Here are all of my dogs and their stories. I used to do a bunch of dog rescue work and so all of them have stories behind how I wound up with them. A few of them I *never* thought I'd wind up with.

This one is Tisha. The first pic is a before pic and the 2nd pic is an after pic. We got her a year ago, she was originally a foster dog. She came from a puppymill that was busted right inside the border of Idaho. A lot of mills operate there that sell puppies to people in WA because Idaho doesn't enforce their laws as much and its pretty rural there compared to a lot area in WA. Anyway, Tisha had to have a back leg amputated because of the abuse she suffered there. Her sister had both her back legs deformed from the living conditions and because of the poor breeding. She also weighs 5.5lbs now, weighed just barely over 4lbs when we got her. Thats a big difference for a little dog.

Another foster dog we wound up keeping. Keep in mind that I fostered over 60 dogs in a year and a half plus transported hundreds during that time. So I guess getting attached to 3 of all of those dogs isn't too bad. Rose was a foster in summer of 03, got her and all her puppies adopted. She was originally a stray with puppies and we took them because most puppies can't survive in a shelter due to parvo and distemper and other viruses. Then this last summer the owner that had adopted her, I don't know what happened but she just really screwed up the management of Rose and was spending 0 time with her, so Rose was escaping the yard and being a lot of trouble for them. So they wanted to get rid of her. I took her back and within 2 days had her back to the way she used to be. We didn't get her adopted in time for our move across country and all other foster homes were full. So our options were to either adopt her ourselves, return her to the shelter where she would most likely be euthanized because she is just not a dog to do well in a shelter environment, or take her in myself and euthanize her. Well since she is an awesome dog and we have 0 management problems with her, we just said forget it and adopted her since I just could not euthanize a good dog like her that had no physical or mental problems.

Then here's Pinky. I've had her for 4yrs now. My dad's girlfriend decided to get a chihuahua beacuse she loved my dog Sable. Didn't realize the needs the breed has and had a daughter who was extremely mean to animals. So within a year they were offering her to me because they couldn't put up with her. We always liked her and felt really sorry for her having to live with that family so we took her.

This pic is of Lestat and Strider. Lestat is the black dog and Strider is the white one. We adopted Lestat almost 3yrs ago. Back then we had 3 dogs, Sable, Pinky and my old dog Scruffy. Scruffy passed on and my husband was always gone so I wanted another big dog and Pinky was definitely missing him too. She refused to eat for 2 weeks, was hiding in the closet the whole time, etc. It was really weird. So we went to the humane society and adopted Lestat. Pinky bonded to him right away. Then Strider was our very first foster dog ever. We took him as a foster when he was 8 weeks old, they were going to euthanize him. We swore we'd never adopt a foster dog and we adopted the very first one lol. He's 2yrs old now.

Here's a pic of Sable with Tisha in it too. Sable turned 11yrs old the other day. I've had her since I was 17 (I've had her for 8yrs). She's been everywhere with me and is just my baby. She weighs 3.5lbs right now if that gives you any idea of how tiny she is. You can tell in the pic her right eye is messed up. She's had an eye problem since the day I got her. We're actually considering a surgery for it right now since we're down to the last medication and its not working very well anymore either.

Here's a couple of pics with Lestat and Pinky. She just freakin adores him and he just puts up with her crap lol.

Re: Post your pets (your post is worthless without pics)

heh, funny you should mention that... I just met a girl that I swear wanted to be Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde. Seriously... she had this little white shaggy dog that she actually dressed. Put a "cute" jacket on it and SHOES and a boe. This dog, I swear is just as dumb as a brick. All it ever did for the hours I was around it was sit and stare. Or give a halfass effort to eat some food. And EVERYTHING it did the dipshit girl that owned it was like "AWWWWWWW!!!"

Holy fucking shit, kicker's back. The days of photo threads will now rule us all! MWAHAHAHAHA...

Ahem.

Well, since I'm up putting up 'Santa's' presents for my 6-yr-old, might as well...

Took these pics about 5 mins ago too. Also, Josh, my Golden Retriever, Duchess was named after my wife's old Retriever, Duke, whom she looks almost like, and acts like.

Duchess - she's a lazy bitch:

Roxy - Shepherd/Rot mix, though mostly Shep, as you can tell (she's mostly pup still, or acts like one):

Her official name is "Big Mew" (used to be just Mew, until the other one came - kids' call on the names), but we nicknamed her "Garfield", as she's just as lazy and spoiled, and she rules the house, as the dogs are scared of her. No idea on her breed, but we adopted her from a shelter:

Our Siamese cat, "Little Mew" - she's skittish, so she wouldn't stay on the counter, and this is the best pic I was able to take:

Lastly, our aquarium. Can't see it well in the pic, but there's three fishes, two small, and one medium sized one, all mostly hiding behind the fake plants, and one frog:

Oh...and:
MERRY EFF'ING CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!

Well, there's good news and bad news...

Last time I participated in a "pets" thread, I had 2 cats and a dog... this was about 3 years ago...

Since then:

Cinder was put down about 2 years ago. He was believed to have cancer (probably lung b/c of wheezing) but he hunted up until the week he died.

We just put Cocoa down about 2 weeks ago. He was not eating and he was in pain, as was evidenced by his crying, so he was not around this Christmas.

I had a dog then, but I never put his picture up, so...

NOW I have one and one (cat and dog)

Jesse is a Steelers fan (if you couldn't read his collar)
He also likes the snow (as a Husky-mix)

Jade is my cat. I kinda adopted him (off the streets) about 2 years ago. He is called JJ most of the time. He's a FREAK but I love him all the same. He sounds like a Clydesdale when he runs around the house.

They all live(d) with my parents. My fish that belonged to my students during student teaching moved with me most recently, but I don't have any pics of him. He's just a feeder goldfish, so not much to see anyway.
