poll: what is rice and what is not

I think if it looks good, then do it and don't worry about what everybody else thinks. I mean that's really how anything ever gets tagged as being rice; because someone else says it is.

look better then stock, and aside from the headlights (they really are brighter), there is no performance gains, and by some definitions, that would make the rest of the lights and the grille rice.

I say oh well. It looks good to me and I'm the one that bought and paid for it so its mine, lol.

Rice is definitely an attitude. And as drdisque quite rightly put it "It is the attitude that how much attention your car gets is more important than how well it actually works."

For example, IMO, if you get a WRX up to 500bhp without strengthening the drivetrain, that's rice!

Then again, I happily call my car a rice burner because it creates power from not very much...most jap cars are rice burners. You either like 'em or you don't.

As for giant wings and ugly paint jobs...I think we have to start disassociating it from everything and just call it shit.

I didnt either at first, but I do now and I never really done anything. Went to edit my post and could see them when I was trying to edit and so I just saved changes (made no changes though) and now I can see them. Oh well.

If it does not help your performance but hinder it it is Rice

If it is not necessary to your car but you buy it to "add horspower" it is rice(stickers)

if your cars is Poorly painted or miss matched and you have not bothered to paint the car completly to the color scheme that you dreamed of before you bought the parts it is Rice

some people get the definition of rice out of hand (with respect to the car, not the attitude). Like, my friend said this cavalier was rice, but it had the factory body kit and an exhaust... idk.

i remeber on some board someone called this porsche rice cause it had a rediculous wing on it, it wasnt pretty, but it was FUNCTIONAL, the car had like 650bhp, was meant for the autobahn and the 'ring.

I have met him the ultamate poser/ricer! The guy was in class bragging about having "the baddest civic around" When I asked him what mods he had done he gave me this huge list of crap like colored spark plug wires, and clear tail light covers, when I listed the actual proformance mods I was talking about, he gave me this "deer in a headlight" look for a min and then went to a "oh I forgot about that" look and said "uh no I did not do any of that yet" !!!!!! The stupid SOB is going around town talking some serious smack, and thinks that clear tail light covers and and a half ass wing make his car a proformance machine! No wounder imports have a bad name in some circles. This guy Did not know the first thing about proformance, he would give anything a bad name. Just a funny story I thought I should share.

Those are the people you build your car for. Its half the reason I built my car. I used to hear all those retards when I was in high school all talking about getting a "Cold AIR INTAKE!!!11ZOMG!!1" and I was always like WTF.... They would ask me if I had one, and I was like "Uh, no... I have just a K&N cone filter," "DooooD J0 gotta get da CAI!!!1"...

So now, its funny to see those retards driving around in thier POS's when I'm going to my recruiter or work or whatever. I usually roll into second hard at about 35mph and lose traction in front of them; Just to let then know how much they will never know...
