yes...about 5 million. Check out the f-body forum for specifics. Also, if you get ambitious, you could swap in a built 350 and fit in alot better with ls1s.

Let me clarify a few misconceptions here.
WS6 is NOT faster then a Z28. I know you may have heard it from a neighbor or read it on a forum once, but it's not true (no kurt angle voice). Why? Because all the LS1 models use the same engine, chassis and transmissions. I know about the ram air but here are the facts about the WS6 and SS models ram air: They don't work. The SS hood design was a joke. It would bring air into the scoop at the back of the hood, then funnel it to the front of the hood and then finally into the front of the airbox. By the time it makes all those turns and angles it lost all it's momentum. The WS6 hood works a little better. At least the air is fed directly to the airbox. But it has one major flaw. The hood leaves a solid 1-2" gap between the hood and airbox. This allows the air to mix with hot engine bay air as well as lose it's momentum since some of the air escapes into the engine bay. Try poking a few holes into the top of a straw and using it in a drink. Same basic principal. There is a $300 kit that closes that gap however. BG ram air kit I think it's called. Other then that the SS and WS6 came with an upgraded suspension (nice but aftermarket is better), 17" rims (nice to have but again aftermarket covers this) and better flowing muffler (aftermarket definately takes care of this). So in reality the SS and WS6 are only given a slight advantage from the better flowing exhaust. This unfortunately is countered by the extra weight they carry. So at the end of the day the fastest ls1 F-bodies are just as likely to be a stripped Z28 or Formula (they weigh the least) as it is a SS or WS6. Can't argue the looks though. The WS6 is a bad ass looking car As far as the original topic, I have to strongly recommend the Z28. It'll be a night and day difference as far as speed, handling, ect. The LS1 is a great motor to mod as well. The bolt-on only record is something like 11.5 @ 118. Basic bolt-ons can get you solid mid 12's which is still very fast for a street driven daily driver. I think if you test drive both, you'll see what I mean. Good luck

Re: 1988 Firebird Trans Am GTA vs. 2000 Camaro Z28 LS1
It doesn't really matter which one is faster as we're not comparing a 4th Gen Firebird with a Camaro. This is an 3rd Gen Firebird and a 4th Gen Camaro so screw the newer WS6.
I'm curious as well, why did you pick the 88 GTA over the Z28? Honestly I'd be worried the thing isn't rusting and could even start. Like I said most people beat the hell out of those cars and those pictures could easily hide some of that.

Re: 1988 Firebird Trans Am GTA vs. 2000 Camaro Z28 LS1
l cant believe that you just said that ws6 is not faster than z28s. l got 7 formula LT1 engine same as z28. man why their 0-60 miles are 5.1 and lt1's 5.7? also, why their quarter mile speed and ET times are better?
just explain me this pls. l am talking about LS1s and LT1s and LS1s are faster than LT1s. not much much faster but faster. prove me wrong and l will clap. thank you. |

![]() Yes, the LT1 car is slower than the LS1 car. But that isn't what we are talking about. But you can get a Z28 with the LS1 as well as the WS.6. Z28 is lighter but has a slightly more restrictive exhuast. They would run VERY similar times. The WS.6 is no faster than any other LS1 powered F-Body. If it is....it isn't much at all. I mean maybe .5MPH faster through the traps.
