So yes, it may help (very little if any) to have that spacer but it wont be because of spinning the air, it will be because the air was given more bumps to go around to give it more turbulence to better atomize the fuel.
Yep Yep, as far as I know turbulent air is a benefit because it helps the air fuel mixture be more complete. Or as thor06 said it lets the fuel atomize better.

Bernoulli’s principal says that if the speed of a moving fluid increases the pressure of that fluid will decrease. (Air is a fluid)

And we've all seen space movies so we all know that air travels from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure. Just like someone getting sucked into space when their spaceship cracks.

If this device does do as it claims and spins the air and it is a little smaller than the rest of the intake tubing then that would mean there would be in increase in air speed which would make an area of lower pressure at the spacer. That would force a TINY bit more air into the throttle body. but, I doubt it would be enough to make a difference.

I hope I've at least helped out a little bit now. Most of this is memory from ground school so It may not be worded exactly right, but I'm pretty sure the ideas are correct.

And david-b, It may have been that you found intakes that increase air speed without to much compression. If that were the case then we know now that if air moves faster it loses density. And from the ideal gas law we know that if you lose denstiy you lose temprature. Therefore an intake that can flow air faster will have less dense air and and less dense air means colder air.

Re: TB Spacers / Twisters

wow. What a debate about science. Who cares if the thing spins, condenses or makes an F5 tornado in your intake. It's still a piece of crap worth maybe 1-2 hp if that. And that's the bottome line. heh.
