Re: A pair of '06 Mustangs

did you use cobra colors for the base coat/primer? I'm looking for a commercially available primer/sealer to pick up at a paint store...I've been trying to find veriprime. but no luck. I'm going to the paint store to talk to them tomorrow. and see what I can do about a PPG primer/sealer........if nothing comes of it. i'm going to order some moon mud from leon.

Re: A pair of '06 Mustangs

white97ex, I used Variprime under the Legend Lime body and Tamiya primer under the red body, and they both worked fine. I tried Cobra Colors VX primer on the Revell Corvette C6, also soft plastic, and it worked well too.

Leon reformulated Moon Mud since I got mine, so it should work okay w/o crazing. However, I don't trust this new Revell plastic and would use a sealer anyway if I'm shooting any automotive paint. Variprime is unnecessary since the discovery that Zinsser B-I-N Shellac-Base primer/sealer/stain killer works perfectly as a sealer (it's also much cheaper, much easier to find, and far less toxic to your body). You can pick up a big can of it at Home Depot or Lowes. It sprays awfully from the can; transfer it to an airbrush (or buy the quart can and appropriate thinner while at Home Depot/Lowes) and it sprays nicely. You must apply some lacquer primer to the raw plastic first BEFORE applying the Zinsser B-I-N; it doesn't stick well to plastic but sticks just fine to other paint. After applying B-I-N you can easily wetsand it and apply more automotive primer and color coats.

Both of those are looking great! Good job.

If I can ever find one of these kits I'll be building one to match my wifes 1:1 (in Legend Lime Metallic). Legend Lime really suits these cars. I didn't think I'd like it until we walked up to it on the lot. Hers isn't a GT so I'll need to do a few modifications I suppose.

Really nice.

I really start to love this model. I'm not really a US car fan but for sure I will buy this kit.

Re: A pair of '06 Mustangs

Absolutely beautiful!!! I love the green and the torq thrusts!! Perfect!! I wish revell would learn from the japanese companies, and make more then 1 version of the kits. Or at least include parts for different trim levels. Keep up the gereat work!
