I know Brampton, and the courthouse is interested in taking your money for the fine or having you plead not guilty ands set a court date.

Its up to a judge to decide to let it go, or the crown attourney to decide not to go to court if you plead not guilty.

IMO follow through on the cops advice. The court may have some agreement to not follow through on minor equipment infractions if they are already corrected, to keep the courts from getting too backed up.
You know, I am going to call them up on Thursday, see if they can lower the fine... It cost me more to take a day off work to go to court!

I already asked ticket fighters... this had no points deductions and shouldn't effect my driving record... It is just like a parking ticket.

Re: Stupidest Ticket! This one made the book!

in most areas, anythign that changes the color of the licence plate is illegal, be it a light bulb or a cover or whatever. if you had a purple bulb you wouldnt have been accused of falsely appearing as a funeral vehicle but your plate would still be the wrong color

Beside, the cops tell me the light had to be white... it doesn't matter it is blue, green, red or orange!
Wow bro somebody didn't get what I was saying at all. Well this is something you should know, many aftermarket parts ARE ILLEGAL to use on the street. Doesn't matter if the package was in japanesse a responsible car owniner/customizer will contact local authority's to find out if a certain part they plan to install is street legal or not. Don't be pissed because you got a ticket for something that was illegal just because you got away with it for 3 years. Peace-

If you were supposed to have colored bulbs in the license plates, the factory would have installed them in the car for you.
Ohio the law clearly states: While a vehicle is in forward motion, NO other color of lights shall be displayed, other than RED, except when signaling a lane change then, amber may be displayed, unless in the case of a certified emergency vehicle, then other colors of lighting may be displayed

Re: Stupidest Ticket! This one made the book!

In NY blue is illegal to use unless you are a Fireman. Even then they have regulations on where to install them and how to use them...Like the trucks that have high output lights mounted on the roof or bumper....If they are not D.O.T. approved, they are only allowed on public roads if they are covered

Re: Stupidest Ticket! This one made the book!

Um if your car is that low it is unroad worthy lol. I mean 1/2" is a small amount. If you were to hit a bump you could easily lose control and possibly cause an accidnet.

would seem to me if your car is that low a sharp turn to avoid something could cause you to scrape your tailpipe up pretty bad.

Re: Stupidest Ticket! This one made the book!

I've been warned for having a couple small blue lights on my hood; I got away with a warning because I told the officer that I didn't know, and that they came on the car when I bought it (both true). She was really nice about it.

Like someone else said, they probably just check to see if you're drunk, or to make sure us young'uns have insurance.

This has only happened once, in Orangeville. She was young, and quite hot actually.

Everywhere else, I've never been pulled over for it... they probably either don't really care, or don't think anyone would confuse a 240SX for snow removal equipment!

I agree this may have been a little excessive. I drive Brampton EVERY day and have lived in Shelburne so know Orangeville as well.

I wonder if he was just lumping you in with the idiots who have coloured turn signals/headlites/etc.

Personally I think he should have spent more time pulling over the bozos with clear tails/signals AND clear/white bulbs. Myself I just leave my Hi-beams on when they irritate me. LOL.

Re: Stupidest Ticket! This one made the book!

Cops have to make a quota of tickets, he hasda slow night and was looking for any reason to write up tickets. I know around here they must have a quota, otherwise they wont write up tickets on slow nights. I got a ticket once for doing 121 in 110km/h zone. Way back and on that road everyone does 130 easy. But north of edmonton you can do any speed you want, as long as no one calls you in.

If I buy a German product with Geman instructions to put on my car in the USA, reading the package means nothing. No US cop cares if it's legal in Germany... but they know if it's legal here and will enforce it. No reason to be disrespectful to anyone. You broke the law and the officer was nice enough to give you advice on how to get out of it and move on.

This is the type of thing that makes up the manuals of traffic laws. The folks that make these laws think it does matter which is why it's in there and enforced. They don't particularily care about you being able to style your car and reflect your personality... they care about cops and other driver's being able to easily read the plate that identifies the owner of the vehicle. Nothing stupid or picky about that. If someone hits and runs your car I'm sure you would appreciate being able to get the plate number as the other driver speeds away.

I dont think you got pulled over because it was a slow night. You were speeding. Doesnt matter how much.

Any blue light is illegal, no need to tweak and bash cops. I have blue-ish turn signals on my truck. I know they're illegal. Yes, i have been pulled over for them, twice. Both times i was very polite to the officer and he just let me go with a "just change them when you have a chance". I mean heck. The second time i had forgotten my wallet at home so i didnt have my license or proof of insurance on me. Still just a warning.
