Guys here how it shakes down
1 Ford Sierra (EDM) = Merkur XR4Ti (USDM) = Ford Motor Corp.
2 Eagle Talon (USDM) = Mitsubishi Starion (USDM=JDM)= DSM (early)
3 Subaru SVX (USDM, EDM, JDM) = Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru)

1, 2, and 3 have NO correllation whatsoever

And if you want to get REAL picky

1st gen DSM:
Mitsubishi Eclipse=Eagle Talon=Plymouth Laser

2nd gen DSM
Mitsubishi Eclipse=Eagle Talon

I love SVX's BTW, there's about 3 of them running around town here.

Re: Subaru SVX

The Eclipse, Talon and Laser were jointly developed by Mitsubishi and Chrysler and manufactured by the Diamond Motors in North America, using the obsolete Gallant chassis to reduce the cost. They were sold through three different dealer networks: Mitsubishi, Eagle and Plymous as Future Boy said. Mitsubishi also marketed the 1st and 2nd gen Eclipse in Japan with the left hand steering instead of RHD.

Why do they to that? There're many reasons like, not many car buyers are aware of every single cars available. If a certain car is considered profitable, it's better increase the public exposure as much as possible. Also, for those who do know about twins and triplets, they have more options to choose from, if you don't like one body style or the other.

Re: Subaru SVX

The big deal is that they're awesome? He mounted his directional wheels wrong. Oops. And why drag up this old thread? Fun post!

There's a couple around here. One's for sale and the other one I see in traffic a few times a week.
