well this guy does know his shit

my personal experience, mine did smoke, at probably 5k+rpms and on startup for awhile. i knew it wasnt oil i knew it wasnt coolant. well when i replaced my old cats it went away. the heat from these engines will beat the shit out of the cats.

if its at 2k?? that sounds more serious

Re: 1987 FC blows smoke.

Sorry to ask, but is it normal to have a small bit of "smoke"(for lack of better word) to go out when you start the car?

Re: 1987 FC blows smoke.

i got me rebuilt, street ported, 3mm seal engine from atkins for 3100. 2yr warranty. although u could get it rebuilt for cheaper, but i went with them cause i thought it would be more reliable.

Re: 1987 FC blows smoke.

3100 shit. I hate not having money. Do you think it will be cheaper if it's non-turbo?

Yes, non turbo rebuilds are cheaper.
Atkins does some ok work, and i commend them on there warantees. As i i do not general warantee my work as most of it is in regards to performance therfore it will be driven HARD and cause alot of wear. Its an obvious problem cause by me or a defective part then i would, but ya.

$3100 is a good price for a rebuild TII motor.
