ABS Recall

Update: Took my car in this morning for the ABS recall. No call yet that it's ready. I did have a secondary issue:

Has anyone ever had a pulley bearing go bad ? I think either my AC Compressor pulley or AC tensioner pulley is shot. Most (75%) of the time if the AC is not on there is a harsh noise coming from near the compressor. As soon as the compressor kicks on the noise stops abruptly.

Re: ABS Recall

Truck's done...got 2 new speed sensors, and found out my ac compressor pulley (read: new compressor) is shot. They wanted $1200 to install reman. I told them in harsher terms "no thanks". I bought one used with 6k mi for $120 and a local mechanic will install the unit, drier/accum, and orifice for $180, so I'm out the door for $300.

Re: ABS Recall

Your state motor vehicle department sends the VIN info to the automakers so they can send out notices.
If you lived in a northern state and moved to a state not involved in the recall you will not get a notice...same goes if you lived in a state that was not involved and moved to one of the affected states, you will get a notice.
Dont worry, they will find you.

You will find out before I do...usually the news will leak info before the parts or procedures are sent to the dealer....this is the reason when you here about a recall, the dealer has no idea what you are talking about

i think thay are trained to say, gee never heard of that befor.

I took my truck in for a recall that was months old. its the first time thay heard of it. lol i had called them for the parts, and even faxed the letter over to them on the tail gate cables. you talk about a guy getting ready to hit the floor when he found out the recall was 6 months old and thay had to fix trucks on the lot.

It all depends on the dealer. The dealer I work for posts all new campaigns in a notebook for the service advisors. Also the service advisor should check your VIN (for any open campaigns)anytime you come in for service.

Anyone know if they will fix this for free if you're not in a recall state? My truck has exhibited this problem several times, and twice while pulling a trailer, nearly leading to accidents both of those times. Of course the GA dealers have heard nothing about it, but it has been on the local news...

Thanks!
