On a lighter side
Hey I just thought of a nearly foolproof way to import a Skyline into the states. Go to Japan. Stay there for two weeks. In the beginning of the week buy a Sky, take the engine and most the interior out and ship the body to your house. Right before you leave to come back ship the interior and the engine back. It might cost a little more shipping wise but if I'm not mistaken it would skate right through customs. (Maybe you could say the body is wrecked).
Does ant one think it will work cause I have a friend that is in the military and he might be going to a place where they sell Sky's and I know I want one.

correct me if im wrong but ud still need to change it to US specs, register it and pass US smog emissions tests
sure itd still be imported in, but at the same cost it normally could be . . . except for the fact that now u have to put together the stupid thing . . . and shipping would be a lot more than normal seeing as ur shipping twice seperately, etc . . . if u want one so bad, bend over and pay

Well I have been looking for this thread for a while. Glad it was brought back.
I went down to the drag strip just last Sunday. It was being run by the Silvia NZ car club. There were two M3's there. An older school one like late 90's and a brand new one 2002 model. The best the New model M3 could muster and not with the owner driving was a 13.2 so I am told, but since he qualified for the top 16 eliminator with a 14.2 not so sure but either way it didn't matter. I was the #2 qualifier with a 12.8 @ 110mph. not bad considering I was getting sideways a few times off the line. The long lasting tyres I have on the car are not the best or suitable for drag racing. Too hard of a compound. 2 good friends with R32 GTR that are still fairy stock hit 12.1 and 11.9 respectively. Both are running a lot more boost than I am ( I am running 13.8psi which and still have the standard boost solenoid) and both are custom tuned by the same guy. The one that did the 11.9 has done an 11.68 on a good cool evening. BTW I was running in full trim. I took nothing out of the car including the spare and general tools in the tool pack. which means I could have stripped a fair bit of weight out of the car. So in straight line acceleration the M3 couldn't match any of the GTR's down there.
