Eh smoking catnip? I've had bud before that I swear was catnip(looked/smelled) smoked it anyway, didn't do shit. My cat lovesssssssss catnip! I was giving her some one time and she batted the bag out my hand and that resulted in dumping like half the bag out. Cat just shoved her head into the pile like 4 times then started rolling around in it. Seriously helarious to watch this shit. I've got a picture of her after this, where she is laying on her back with all 4 paws standing straight up in the air. A kitten I had got into the bag once and holy shit that cat flipped the fuck out!!!!! Would not stop moving for like a hour and she attacked everything that moved. You would walk across the room and the cat would do like a divebomb at your feet. Seriously so funny shit. Peace-

On one hand some say they feel good, relaxed and similary on a high as marijuana see here. On the other hand it seems that back in 1969 some clinicians misidentified marijuana as catnip and reported it as a new hallucinogenic smoking material.
Another interesting site on the uses of catnip in teas, against mosquitoes etc. TS out (fighting the cat for the catnip)

screw cat nip, i've got a shitload of work to do tonight an just had some crazy flip-out on caffine. had too much redbull an other than that like once every 6 months there's no caffine in my diet, made m go completely crazy, i dont know what happened, but stress certain music an redbull overdose made me go completely mad....woo.....

I've read that catnip makes cats act the way they do because the chemicals in catnip mimick those found in male cat's urine - which excites female cats. Apparently nobody knows why catnip has the same effect on male cats though.
