Hey Redneck and 2001LS1Z28, what did you guys trap in the 8th STOCK?

Also the last time I checked, bench racing was coming out and saying something like "my brother's friends cousins uncle is john force and he's faster than you"

Re: Toying with V8's

Mag racing....bench racing....all the same.

In the 1/8th mile, I trapped about 81 MPH with roughly the power a stock LS1 makes at sea level.
Damn this altitude.

I call bullshyt on this whole story...no way you kept up with a stock Z28 when they run a mid 13 from the factory and your blown cavalier is running a high 14...1 secon in the 1/4 mile is approximatly the difference of 4-5 car lengths...so BS

Also, no way a 03 Cobra struggled putting distance on you when they run a high 12 bone stock...and again, your running a 14 second 1/4 mile...thats 3 full seconds...which is approximatlay 8-9 car lenghts...so BS again

nice try buddy...

Re: Toying with V8's

My Z28 trapped 80.16 in the 1/8 and 102.8 in the quarter one run.

The second run I trapped 80.92 in the 1/8 and 105.42 in the 1/4.

Both of those runs were done with my old shot clutch, the pressure plate was bad in it and it wouldn't let the pedal come off the floor. It was slipping the whole time... and I wouldn't let me have 3rd gear.

D'oh. Stupid GM and their shotty OEM parts.

Same here. Although I don't think the problem was just the pressure plate.
Did you upgrade the slave cylinder with the new clutch??? I am doing both the slave and master in mine. I had some REAL bad clutch problems under WOT at the track.

Re: Toying with V8's

I trapped around 81-82mph when my car was close to stock. It traps around 85 mph.

Dunno what to tell you Jayson, I can just see this race taking place, with you being ahead, and seeing the LS1 gaining on you rapidly, then putting on the brake lights, and calling it a win. I've seen that done time and time again, especially by owners of AWD cars. With a 9.3 sec. 1/8th mile time, your car ain't that slow though, as much as LS1 owners all wanna say that they run in the 8's, I, and several thousand other LS1 owners have run in the 9's 1/8th mile wise before (Beit bad launch, or poor driving skills). I think your post is what set me off, " Toying w/ V8's". That's inviting me to be a dick. I don't like thinking of my car as a joke, to be "toyed" with. Didn't mean any disrespect, or to try and get you off the board.

Re: Toying with V8's

Ok, I'll just start with a new post, instead of editing over my "tired-post" as I promised.

Anyhow.

My daily-driver is a Mitsubishi Diamante. Fairly luxurious, and has good enough power to get out of its own way.

One morning, driving to work, which is always very early, since I have to be at work by 6am. There's always a few drivers that seem to drive like they are still groggy, and basically causing their own traffic-jam, when there should be none that early.

I usually drive semi-aggressive, at least until I get around these types of drivers, and onto the freeway I commute on.

One morning, I got next to a WS6 that had the same idea, and at one light, he launched - not too crazy, but definitely a launch. Me, just to mess around, and to boost my adrenaline to wake me up, I launched too, which in my car is essentially: "I stomped on the gas from a stop".

I waited for the WS6 to stomp all over me, but it didn't. I stayed within a car of it.

Did I post in here? Nope. Why?

My car weighs as much as his. He has at least 300HP - probably to the wheels, and I have 210 crank HP.

It's called LOGIC, son.

The WS6 was probably on half, even 1/3rd throttle, and I was flooring it. He just wanted to get ahead.

You need to use this same logic when evaluating these "races".

Does it REALLY have to be spelled out for you?

Re: Toying with V8's

hey son, i know what happened, i heard there engine, its pretty obvious when someone is racing and when someone isnt.

Anways this is really pissing me off. Im not a liar, i dont make up stories, and i will get some better proof for you, untill then i made a quick video of my car. Doing the type of acceleration on do the street while street racing.

ANd one thing no one here is paying attention about, and listen of carnut. IT WASNT A 1/4 MILE RACE, IT WASNT ABOVE 80 MPH, IT WAS A PRETTY SHORT RACE, I KNOW IN THE LONG RUN THEY WOULD HAVE KILLED ME.
