ok, I am sorry... I've worked on so many cars here lately I can't keep them all straight... the IAT is part of the MAS in these vehicles... The IAC is on the back/bottom of the Throttle Body... The TPS sensor if on the front... and that's what has been compromised... The wires to it... the IAT will do what I was describing... but that apparently is not the problem.. I may take a look at the MAS just to make sure it doesn't need to be replaced...

I shall take some pics after I get off work today... I will hopefully have them posted tonight or first thing in the morning... I'll search the web to see if I can find any pics...

Re: clutch rev drop to idle

nevermind....i found it...how much do you think a new IAC will cost me. i may get one off of ebay if i can find one or i may just go down to advanced auto parts and see if they can get one just because of convenience.

simply go to partsamerica.com (advance auto parts), and they will give you their price... look up your exact make, year, model, etc... they'll give you prices online... and tell you if your local store will have it in stock... be sure to check Autozone, and other retailers too... it's always best to shop around...

that's true.... I do believe the DSMs run a lot of the same parts, IAC, MAS, TB, injectors...

this is really startin to piss me off. i hate electrical bs.

I didnt reread everything but you may need to take a look at your ECU caps.

Re: clutch rev drop to idle

Well I was thinking IAC until you said it won't crank back up. It actually won't crank? If so then it's as simple as a loose battery cable.

But if you mean that it was cranking but not starting up, then I still think IAC. And in that case your best bet would be Ebay, DSM's use the same one. Advanced Auto Parts, Autozone, and Pep Boys around here all wanted $250 for a new one, got it for $50 on Ebay and works great.

Re: clutch rev drop to idle

its in a mechanic shop right now. hopefully they will figure out what is wrong with it. the starter will turn but the motor wont turn over. i was thinking it may be a short in a wire somewhere. i dont know. i'm fine with the motor but when it come down to all the electrical shit and transmissions and clutches i dont know anything. i was gonna go to uti and become a technician but i was like 400 miles away in orlando and it was very expensive and i am glad i didnt go cuz i would be stuck down in orlando right now with a broke car and no money to fix it.

Re: clutch rev drop to idle

i will talk to the mechanic about the IAC though and see what he thinks. the check engine light came on before it cut off so shouldnt he be able to get the codes?

what year is it... they can definitely get codes from it, but if it is pre OBDII then many places do not have a scanner that will work on your car... I think I am gonna have to agree with them... replace the IAC, and see what happens... good thing is, when the car died out, the ECU at least noticed something... I would suggest pulling the connectors off of your sensors, check all the wires, and make sure there's no debris in them, but most likely it will be the IAC...

another thing you might wanna try, unplug the MAS, and try to crank it... if it does crank, you may need a new MAS... if it runs, it will run like crap until you get a new one... but I had the same problem when I forgot to plug my MAS back in (installed clutch slave cylinder and intake, removed system)

Re: clutch rev drop to idle

its a 1st gen. r/t non-turbo. i would try the MAS thing if i had my car at the house. it just pisses me off not to know what is wrong with if. i hate all the damn sensors and shit they put in cars nowadays. its rediculous. they put all the sensors in there to make sure nothing tears up but look what happens...the damn sensors and shit tear up instead of the parts that the sensors are supposed to keep from tearing up. i believe they do it on purpose so that they break and you have to take it to a dealership to get it fixed and then they charge you an ass load to fix it.
