I gotta try to check the codes tomorrow.
It started acting up again tonight for the first time in a week. The difference being my trip was longering tonight and involved some highway driving. Same symptoms, running as if it's misfiring but idling along without stalling. Just idling very roughly at around 700 - 800 RPMs. Put in gear and RPMs drop below 500, no power, it almost stalls but it doesn't. The exhaust spurts and gurgles, when idling, almost like a souped up muscle car. Get towed home, start it up, runs fine (after sitting for about an hour). This time though, the "Check Engine Soon" light came on and has stayed on so far. This didn't happen the first time. So I'm hoping the computer has logged more data. If it is the fuel pump, wouldn't it just die and not start again? Do fuel pumps respond to heat? Any chance it could be the ECM? The dealer will attempt to further diagnose at no further charge to me so I'll have it in to them on Monday. Just trying to get some more ammo before I do. Any further advice / suggestions is appreciated as always. |

43 55 12 Battery or computer recently disconnected 43 Peak primary coil current not achieved with max dwell time OR 43 Cylinder misfire OR 43 Problem in power module to logic module interface Looks like it might be a cylinder misfiring? Not sure what the battery disconnect is all about. I haven't since I've owned it. Or could it just be registering a 43 due to a lack of fuel? |

This is just way too similar to what is happening to me. It's got to be the fuel pump and/or filter. I wonder if I should do the fuel filter myself first and then test it out. If the filter does not do the trick, have the pump replaced. Thoughts? Upon visual inspection of the fuel filter (once removed) will it be obvious whether or not this was the cause? |

I talked to 2 mechanics and the dealer and none of them recommended replacing just the filter so I had both the pump and the filter replaced.
Took it for a 45 minute highway cruise, everything seems fine now. I actually had the dealer do the work, they felt bad for me and gave me cost on the parts and a discount on the labour. Saved me a few hundred bucks. Still cost me $600 CDN though. Oh well, at least this nightmare is over. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. |

Re: Help Please! 97 Voyager issues...
Happy to hear you got it fixed. And happier to see you posted THE fix as many other people seem not to bother doing. It may help many other people better this way.
![]() I can get a brand new pump assembly on ebay for about 30 bux, so maybe i'll try it one more time. |
