I don't think thats true. I see disgraces to the English language in both
the plastic model forum and diecast forum. Theres more and more young
people who are building both plastic models and diecast.. Immaturity and
hideous grammar are spreading through the whole website.

Also what limits the response to this board is the personal interest of the people that frequent these threads. It's not very diversified.

Re: this web side is dead

Good thread. But realize, you are in a website called automotive forums, where the most heavily frequented sections are Mclaren and Skyline (whoduthunkit). You are posting in basically the toy car section. Yep. They are kids.

PErsonally I read just about every thread made by most of you guys. Especially ClearHooter and ScaleMaster, you guys do ungodly work! I just dont reply often, because what else can I say other than some cliche one word like "Amazing!"

Dont stop posting. Please. Lest we be overrun by Escalades on dubz and wanna be Fast and Furious Skylinez y0

Re: this web side is dead

I've got to where unless I have something pertanent like the D50, that I want to make sure a particular person gets to see, I wait until I get several cars done then I'll post here. Still don't get much response but then its usually history by then; since I've put it on several other boards months before. That is a good point about the 1:1 cars being the mainstay of this site. But it doesn't negate the poor use of grammer here. I really like that little guy bangin' his head. That's funny.

This thread is getting good.

I also want to add that this website is viewed worldwide and recently we are getting people from different countries. So their bad English and grammar is due to the fact that English is not their first language and I believe that they are still learning it as we speak. For that I will give a benefit of a doubt there.

But for the people here in the States it's either they are not learning as much through the generations like ClearHooter and ScaleMaster said, they don't want to learn, or they're just too lazy in these boards.

This section is not officially dead, but the fan base here is certanily lacking. It's probably there but, just like me and a few others, we don't post that much here. I would love to see more posts about the cars they got or the mods done to it.

Re: this web side is dead

Yeah. I brought that foreign thing up earlier. And I understand that 'cause my command of the English language is about all I can handle. More power to anyone trying to verbalize in a foreign tounge. But as Scalemaster pointed out most of the poor grammer isn't from outside the USA. Granted with the influx of immagrants to this country that may not be a valid point.

Its not a strong positive point that this particular thread is getting interesting and a high point.
MAN!!! I love that little guy!

I may just be bashing everything you guys are saying, but every person here, whether or not they have good or proper grammar, provide motivation in some way or another, and it's great to see all types of builds, even if their not something you particularly like. Say for instance someone is making an Escalade with big 'ol chrome wheels, I'm not a fan, but in some way it may inspire you to make somthing slightly similar, but with your own twist, so good grammar or not, we all basically need each other here, plus the support on build really helps keep a project going.

While grammer does play a part in my making an effort to read what is put up here. It's more the subjects that stop me. I'm more interested in the classics and antique autos. Most of the posts here address "blings, dubbs" and newer stuff that is more computer oriented than mechanical. This just shows a generation gap that gives weight to the statements that the younger side of the scale posts this board. I don't have a problem with that...Just no interest. I suppose that is a two sided coin. Nor am I a very fast typist. Nor do I excell in speed when it comes to posting. I weigh what I say and try to say what I mean as elequently as I know how. My vocabulary far outstrips my ability to spell it, so I do have some words mispelled from time to time. But I have a dictionary and do use it; which is one of the things that slows me down. For those reasons I don't post much here. (In fact this is the most I've put up here in months.) When there is little interest in what I do I don't dwell on it I move on. Like I said, I'll put up several pics here, of work I do over several months now; rather than put up WIPs because it's a waste of my time if there's no interest. No problem with me. But if you compound my attitude by "X" then you'll understand why some think this board is "Dead."

i agree with both you and bandito.i am also interested in classic/antiques im 14 yrs old im not much into the bling bling era of cars and dabble some what in to imports.i know that can be hard to find, but thats how i was raised around muscle cars ,and antiques.getting back on track,i try to spell words correctly and use spell check to impress you guys cause i dont want you guys to think im some supid 10 year old child who cant talk very well let alone type.i dont think its killing the forum because its there desision to build/post here

WOW
I started this thread and I never thought that is gonna get that big.
Any way I agree but I m 34 and I m in to bling bling escalades and computerized skylines.
I did my time with classic and muscle cars, still have respect for them, still customizing them from time to time.
And you all have point, that it is very sad that young generation can't spell they own language.
Us immigrants we came to this country, at list we try to learn how to spell, and it is looks to me that kids not even trying to do that.
I came to the states in 1990, I never went to college here. And it is makes me feel sad that I can spell better then someone who was borne here.

Oddly enough the first definition could be used as a contridiction. A "reward" OR "penalty."

I've always said it was a screwed up language. But it makes for writing some great songs.
By the way, that first definition would be dessert.

Actually no....Webster's makes a distinction between "desert" ie "due reward." And "dessert" ie "The last course of a meal." Until one of my grandkids had it in reading and I made her look it up; which she couldn't!!! I had to look up "desert" ie "Dry....expanse of land." I wasn't aware of the "due reward" spelling. I always figured it was "just desserts."

It IS a screwed up language. BUT IT'S OURS. It's probably one of the most discriptive. From what I've been told it's one of the few that can actually create rhymes. Don't hold me to that. I've heard that most of my life. I'm "sure" when English is translated into Spanish, for instance the English rhyme is broken. Can anyone who speaks Spanish or French or any other language verify or debunk the rhyming statement??? I've been courious about that since I heard it. That's been a looooong time.

Several truths:

Books should have table of contents and indexes.
Pants should have pockets
Clocks should have at the VERY least 4 numbers.
Fuel pick-ups should be at the rear of the tank.
Forums should have SPELLCHECKS
