Now you'll learn. Young driver + powerful car + shitty conditions = trouble.

Get a cheaper car.

Unfortunately our gronk Govt thinks its Young driver+car=trouble.

Re: Wrecked my car......

Oh and slow the fuck down in the rain. Common sense innit.

You'll get no sympathy. First you lied to us about what car you drove (what, you think we forgot the Mercedes thing?) then you go on and brag about the new BMW. Well shit happens.

Hopefully you learn from it.

Re: Wrecked my car......

sounds like you paniced when driving, a bad thing to do, but something even the more experienced of us are not immune to (Though the last time I did something like that I was also heavily fatigued and only driving because it was extremely neccesary).

Take some kind of advanced drivers course or have some track time and learn from your mistakes.

Re: Wrecked my car......

Meh, it can happen with young driver + slowish car as well.

I did almost the same thing with my 130hp Accord a few weeks ago, where I was taking a roundabout in dry conditions at 3 am, basically what I did was slowed down to about 50 km/h, shifted the car down to second and went into the corner, though I realised that I was still going a little quickly and the car was understeering so half-not knowing what to do I slowed down hard enough for the ABS to engage, the car got extremely twitchy and I was fighting with the car, but the brakes never locked (Seriously, ABS locking? WTF is up with that?), but I at least managed to get around the corner with the lesson that Accords can't corner as quickly as Civics and I need to get my suspension sorted out.

Though if I had offed I wouldn't have been lucky enough to just get a nasty kerbing, I'd also have taken out a lamp-pole, just like my mate did in his Skyline going at about 130 back last year.

It happens, it's stupid to pass judgement on people just because thier car isn't a Lada or an Automatic Silvia Q's ( ) or something. Fact is we all do stupid things in our cars when we are young, it's whether we learn or not that's important.

Re: Wrecked my car......

^ Well thanks for understanding.... I don't know but I think that some people on here are just being arrogant, cocky, most of all JEALOUS in my opinion and All I wanted to tell was what happened because I dont want this to happend to anyone else out there. If people jsut want to make fun of them or rant all over them because they get into a car accident, it gets them back in the future. I'll get pics tommorow since Im going to the body shop to see how the car is doing...

Re: Wrecked my car......

I had several close calls, skids and the odd spin when I was your age and learning how to drive.
It all made me a better driver, and none of it caused any more damage than a slightly miss0aligned fence post.

The differnce is I was doing it in a 998cc Datsun with 58hp.
It simply wasnt fast enough, or powerful enough to get me in that much trouble, it had nice skinny tyres and firm suspension and I could slide it all over the road while doing only 30-40kph, if I lost it went no further than the side of the road, no chance of it skipping kerbs or taking out a tree or power pole.

I learned how to drive that little car to the limits, I used to pray it would rain so I could practice driving it sideways, even though it was FWD.

Then when my skills had surpassed the limits of the car and I could make it do anything I wanted it to, things beyond what it was ever designed to, I moved onto something bigger, heavier and with a hell of a lot more power.

If you want to really learn how to drive, and really know what car controll is then sell that big heavy 330i and get something small and underpowered.
An old 1300cc Corolla, or VTEC-E Civic, or a Geo Metro, or Suzuki Swift.
Then take some advanced drving classes, join a car club and attend a track day and ask someone to come with you in the car and show you how to drive.
Find an empty paddock and go nuts, use the hand brake, brake mid corner, swing the car around, pull the hand brake and keep acclerating in a FWD car, brake late in a RWD car then stand on the power.

If your really keen buy an under power CRX or MX5 and enter it in some autocross competitions, you won't win, but you will learn a lot about car cotroll.

At the very least down grade to a 316, if you keep driving the 330 you will never truely learn how to drive, and you will have more accidents.

if it were any other 16ish year old driving that car and saying he did what you did I would be very upset. However from the respect you've earned here I can honestly say shit happens, I used to be horrible when it came to cars. However I got in trouble and learned my lesson, as I'm sure most of us have here. So if anyone here tries to give you shit then they are obviosly too young and inexperienced to have been through any learning experiences.

All I can say is learn from it and be very grateful that your dad is helping you out with insurance and paying for your car. You should be happy to do your dad's work regardless of the accident, I mean he did buy you a 330 right? If one of my parents bought me that car I would gladly mow their lawn for the rest of my life... Just be glad for the things that come to you and don't sweat it, its already getting fixed and you are not injured. what more could you ask for?

It's about time you switch back to the Mercedes!! ESP would've saved yo ass!!

I also noticed you said your ABS light came on. Was this a warning message or do BMW's have an indicator light that tells you when it's working??

I think the ABS light coming on is standard on all cars that it's obviously not working.

About you thinking that we're jealous though about you having a BMW.. dont think so.. i'll stay with my Monte Carlo

Re: Wrecked my car......

Don't give him grief over his accident. I'm sure that pretty much everyone would love to have a 330, and if you were 16 and your dad wanted to buy you a 330, you wouldn't object.

Stop being so hard on him...everyone makes mistakes...their is nothing he can do about it now...the only thing he can do is learn from it...
