Re: Respect
I can believe a new Mustang GT could run a 13.4 but I could also believe a LS1 F-body could run a 12.9 and also believed when motor trend of 96 got a LT1 to run a 13.8. I believe they are all possible but the average LS1 F-body Vs the Average New Mustang with the same skill driver should go to the LS1 F-body from what I have seen with my own eyes and have read.

I've heard GT's can run mid-high 13's but I always assume a little exageration when friends tell me...That being said I also heard LS1's can run 12s but again I assume a lil embelishing...I think an LS1 can still take a GT but its close, alot closer than the previous generation Mustang...

Sure you watched a 05 Mustang GT pull 13.4 sec. Was it stock, I venture to say not. I see vids of them running 14's, and high 13's at tracks. I have yet to see an owner not marching one around Speedway, only to never run his car. I've pulled up beside them and revved (Danno can attest), and they basically ignore me and drive off. I know they are slower then Mach 1's are, and I see Mach 1's run, and they run high 13's bone stock. I'm sure the guy you saw ran a 13.4 sec. pass, but I bet he was lying about his mods.

Re: Respect
the new gt should be right with or faster than the mach1. the hp numbers if both cars are very similar and the 05 has a better suspension
btw, besides the drunken post, if my typing looks messed up its because this keyboard on my new comp at OU sucks, ive had to fix this post alone like 5 times. |

Re: Respect
Well, 4-6 tenths is pretty bad actually in a heads up race. You'd be about 2 or 3 cars behind, true, that's only one mis-shift, but still.
Anyways, Mach 1 Mustangs are all right IMO. Atleast they do it with no power adders, and I'm from the "bottles are for babies" school, so that's just a personal preference for me.

Re: Respect
Most of the stock 01-02 LS1 cars I have seen dyno tend to get around 315-320 RWHP. 98-00 tend to be about 5 RWHP less.
My 1999 dyno'd 320/333 with lid and Loudmouth.

Re: Respect
It depends on whethe the car is an automatic or not. I've seen a few LS1's in the 290whp range, and even some in the 270's. Highest I heard of was a 2001-2002 WS6, that the dude said dynoed 330whp. Dunno if I believe him though.

Re: Respect
Yeah, the M6 and the A4 do put down different numbers.
Never seen any LS1 car dyno as low as 270 unless there was a problem. I have seen completely stock Firehawk's dyno at 330. The 98-00 cars didn't have the LS6 intake, but they did have a slightly more aggressive cam. The 01-02 cars got a less aggressive cam, but the LS6 intake. They tend to put down a touch more power than the early models stock. Once modded, it just depends on the mods.

Re: Respect
Actually Luos, I believe you have it wrong. The 98's had a more aggressive cam then the 99/00, and different coil pack (As well as injectors). The 99/00 have a different coil pack (00 has some form of egr setup that is different). The 01/02's not only had the LS6 intake manifold, but more aggressive cam, and also the Z06 clutch.

Re: Respect
320 hp to the wheels for an LS1 F-body, really? That would be about what, ~360 hp to the crank? Are you trying to tell me that GM would underrate their cars by some 40 hp? Sounds a little iffy to me.

![]() 98 had the old coil packs. Actually, they weren't really packs. Just a coil per cylinder. Valvecovers were also different. Camshaft didn't change from 98-00. It was a more aggressive cam than the 01-02 cars got as well. Not by much, maybe a couple HP worth. 98-00 cam = 198.86/209.25 .498/.497 119.45 01-02 cam = 196.37/208.72 .464/.479 115.92 The 01-02 cars has a slighty less aggressive cam because they got the LS6 intake. 98 had different injectors. I think they were bigger, but I can't remember off the top of my head. EGR was the same on the 98-00 cars. Then it isn't even on the 01-02 cars. LS1 intake on the 98-00 cars, then LS6 intake on the 01-02 cars. Z06 clutch was never in the F-Body. BUT the hydraulics were in the 01-02 cars. Whew.....done. ![]() Quote:
