Thanks EF6_CR-X. I went to repco and got the Narva version (the Hella's wern't listed on their 'puter). Originally the price was Au$90 (F*CK). Dunno why they were so expensive, but the guy on the counter knocked it down to 50 bucks (trade price maybe?).

Anyway, it works beautifully, except that the rubber shroud is the only thing holding the bulb in at the moment as the screw is missing from the lacking mechanism on the lights.

Thanks for that

Cheers

No worries man.
Repco are pretty bad here too, that was the price they quoted me NZ$90, so I went in search of something cheaper, the Hella ones I got for $36, were actually made by Stanley.
Most auto sparkies were sellign them for $50, I went to a wholesale place so I guess thats why I got a good deal..

They do make a big difference aye!!

BTW are your lights lenses going yellow?
If they are, that is another major blocker of light. To fix that you need to remove the light units, get ~600grit wet&dry, and gradually work your way up to 1200.. followed by applying a clearcoat.
It does take a long time to do, but the results are very rewarding

OK dude.. sorry for going a bit off track.
if the bulbs you bought, fit the light properly then you have done it properly.
As for adjusting, the mounting points where you mount the light to the chassis has quite a bit of adustment in it (left - right) there is another small adjuster to fine tune it. As for height there is only one adjuster.
here is the proceedure for adjusting your lights for US requirements.

1. Find yourself a blank wall that you can park 25ft away from (ensure you have level ground)
2. With the car a few inches from the wall, Position masking tape on the wall in reference to the centre of the vehicle and the centerline of each headlight
3. Position horizontal tape in reference to the centerline of each headlight (now you have two big + signs and one vertical line between them)
4. Now reverse your car STRIAGHT 25ft.
5. With the lights on low beam, aim the high intensity light point two inches below the horizontal line, and two inches to the right of the vertical line
6. With the lights on high beam, the high intensity spot should be on the vertical line, but just below the horizontal line.

Now #6 is where you will be having problems, so you will need to be creative and aim for something between proceedure 5 & 6.
The Japanese drive on the left hand side of the road, so when their lights are on 'low' they point down and to the left, and when on high they point straight ahead, you CANNOT adjust that, as it is part of the beam pattern/reflector allignment in the light (so in a sense you have illegal lights), so adfjust it so that it best suits your needs without blinding other motorists.

Also if the plastic lenses are yellowed you could do the proceedure I told Setanta about in my last post.

hopefully you get it going well.

Chris

Yeah - the polycarbonate lights do discolour but I just hit them with plastic cutting compound and all is good

The alignment info is good, going to look at checking mine on the weekend. Where do you get your info from on the JDM designs?

Cheers

Setanta: Just remember the alignment for lights on RHD vehicles is the oposite to the LHD (US) type..
So you'll want to be 2 inches to the left of the vertical line. (i'm sure you already figured that one out anyway)

What JDM info were you refering to? you mean about how the headlight is aimed for a RHD vehicle etc?

BTW you might find this useful for your EF9, if you don't have it already
www.hondacrx.co.uk
There you can download the factory workshop manual in PDF format for EDM CR-X and also the Vtec supplement. (most things will be the same as your civic)

Re: help!-ef9 lighting problem

you mustve wired your headlights wrong if your highbeams indicator light stays on. Mine doesnt. you probably mixed up the low/hig beam wires when wiring it.
