I think GM did that for a very good reason: safety. The higher the center of gravity on these trucks, the more likely they are to have more of a rollover problem.

I don't want to see them raise the height of their trucks, too hard for women to get in and out of and also too hard to load child seats.

You younger guys will find out someday.

I also don't know why GM doesn't approach like say.....Caterpiller for a diesel engine. At first they had those crappy converted 350s and 6.2Ls them went to the 6.5L, which wasn't much better, and now their big dog is built by Isuzu???

At the chance of getting tossed out on my a**, I'll tell you in my opinion the only diesel on the light truck market is the Cummins. You can rant and rave all you want, but think about it. Cummins has been building light and dependable diesel engines for a lot longer than any of their competitors and it has hardly has any complaints. I'm not a Dodge guy in the slightest, but I wish GM would build a decent diesel engine.

Maybe they wont change anything and then everybody who likes the height of the truck can stay happy. I'll just lift mine if I want it higher

Yeah... see those nerf bars on my truck? Wouldn't be there if it weren't for my wife. However, I'm pretty sure Ford has been producing a diesel at least almost as long as Cummins. I know my dad has owned several 50's model Ford tractors that had Ford diesels in them.
