want to remove my A/C

yeah it only takes it out when the clutch is engaged, living here in california I would LOVE to have an airconditioner but unfortunately when I bought the car the owner decided he didn't need one, I saw a crx in the junk yard with all the air conditioning parts, but I wasn't gutsy enough to try to take it out screw HP I want air.

If you didn't hear anything when you pressed down on the fitting, the R-12 is already drained. The same thing happened to me because my caps had been missing for awhile. Again, bad for the environment, but there was nothing I could do about it, and I actually saved the $25 I would've had to spend on a retrofit kit (nobody has R-12 fittings anymore). Enjoy the 45-lb difference.

air conditioner only uses about half horsepower... These people disconnecting their AC are just too stupid. They dont know what theyre doing.

A/C removal is not so much about the hp gain (which is admittedly minimal) as it is about weight loss and the space gained in the engine bay. 45 pounds is a substantial amount of weight relative to a 2000-lb car. Not only is the overall curb weight reduced, but front/rear weight distribution also improves.

thank you, thats what im gettin at that it wasnt just the HP which addmittedly isnt that much but now that i have a KOYO radiator i dont have the space for the a/c fan and i could used the wieght loss, but a couple laps around the track and a good diet should help that also.

Removing the AC doesn't really have much of a gain in HP, but the weight difference is great. I did it on my Integra when I had it, helped, of course it's not gonna make it a racer over niht, but every little bit helps right?

you must be high on drug... i put my a/c compresor on weigh scale and it only weight less than 7 pounds. the a/c condenser, fan and hoses are less than 9 pounds...total about 16 pounds. wow..who you trying to bullshit man?

Okay, you signed up with that name to post that. And so what if it's not exactly 45lbs... whoopty fucking tittly shiznits... Remove all the plastic shit, belt, wires, relays, etc...

Oh yeah, if you replace the crank pulley with a racing pulley it also significantly reduces mass/weight... blah blah blah...

agreed lighter is better whether its 45lbs or 9lbs. if i dont use it i dont keep it on. Remeber the lighter the better, as long as you have the means to keep it on the ground.
