Re: Damn It Revell!!!

it should be fixable. i bought the same exact kit 1/2 off this week, too. i was dissapointed to find a couple parts bent. yea that plastic wrap they packaged it in was WAY to tight and bent the bodies. luckily i only found one very bent piece that goes under the rear spoiler that is molded to the body and a side panel.

Re: Damn It Revell!!!

Send it back to Revell and they'll send you out a replacment.A friend of mine has done this several times and he's never had any hassles.

Re: Damn It Revell!!!

Well I might send it back to Hobby Lobby and get a Revell 360 Modena Spider, Enzo, or even another Porsche GT1.
Has anyone got good experiences and are they of good quality?

Also, do you guys know how easy it is to fool the casheirs at Hobby Lobby? You can like take the price tag of one car, and exchange it with another one and they won't notice!! ( I have not tried this.....yet.)

Re: Damn It Revell!!!

They notice, especially when its enough of a price difference to actually be worth it. If you're trying to save a few dollars, just go to Walmart, you cheapskate. If you're trying to get a $50 Enzo with a Supra's $19 tag, they will definately notice.

Re: Damn It Revell!!!

Well I'm going to try and go today and exchange it for a Revell 360 Modena Spider. Will they still take it if the box is opened?

Re: Damn It Revell!!!

show them the problem, or better yet don't tell them at all. just pretend like you got it like that. take some clear tape and tape the box together and it will look like you bought it like that. rofl i returned an s2k once and all i did was tape together the shrinkwrap and they didn't care. but don't switch price tags:
1) they probably have cameras
2) makes you somewhat like a thief

Re: Damn It Revell!!!

Yeah, I won't try and change the price tags, makes me feel bad and cheap person.
One time I went to Hobby Lobby there was some kits with no plastic wrap, so I'll just take the bottom or base part of the wrap on my box and return it.

Re: Damn It Revell!!!

Well I went to Hobby Lobby, and they wouldn't let me get the 360 modena with out paying $7.30. So I got another Porsche GT1 and its pretty good except the body, its a little too wide but I can epoxy that to the chassis. Also, thanks to David at www.scaleracecars.com I got my two PE sets and a free scriber!

Re: Damn It Revell!!!

Regarding the Revell and flack comment, I think Dragon was pointed out simply in the interests of noting that the Japanese manufacturers have their missteps, too. Imagine my surprise at the short-shot of my Tamiya 1:12 Caterham transmission case, or the missing "V12" transfers from my 600 SEC.

Tamiya customer service was frankly a little snooty in fixing these problems. But then they saw the actual short-shot part I sent them, and responded with a touch more humility.

It looks as if your problem has been pretty well solved, D-L - but to elaborate on that hot water tip:

Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil, then turn off the heat. Quickly afterward, submerge the warped sections of your body shell for five-second increments, till the plastic becomes more pliable. It will be the right temperature to hold the corrections you make once you smell a small whiff of plastic fumes - but don't overdo it, or you'll really distort the body.

Though your new body's a lot better, you might still find this tip helpful to bend in the sides and get them to fit the chassis a little closer.

Re: Damn It Revell!!!

The Revell saga goes on; Bought a ī31 Mod. A sedan the other day at my LHS. When drooling over the parts i noticed that the body was heavily warped in its longitudal axis and the area behind the right door was warped inwards.
So the next day i took the complete box and content with the receipt and talked to the staff. "Looks kinda crooked" one said..

It all was solved within 5 mins. they opened a new box,and we swapped the bags that contains the body. "Weīll send it back" they said with a smile.

Thatīs customer service! But Revell, you should not throw in parts that havenīt cooled down properly

Re: Damn It Revell!!!

What a bunch of whiners. Thats life, sometimes things get a bit warped. You deal with it and move on.
These things happen. It amy have sat in a hot wharehouse after leaving Revell or any number of things.
Take it back to the store and get a replacement

All of the time spent complaining could've been used to advance one's building skills. Just an unsolicited opinion
