I would say that there aren't usually "rare" kits at HL, although every once in a while you will find a Tamiya Enzo or Tamiya 360 Modena. They typically have a lot of [Tamiya] Porsches GT3s, Honda S2000s, Toyota GT1s, and JGTC Skylines, at least that is what they stock here in the Chicagoland area.

Most of the domestic models (AMT, revell, some polar lights) are well stocked and common, but 1/2 price is a great price on these (as they are not marked up nearly as much as the Japanese import models).

These sales are probably at least 3-4 times a year, so if you are planning on a domestic company model, if you can wait they are a steal

Hope this helps

Also, they have a bunch of Testors paints there, 99¢ per bottle. (Little bottles). I've got some from a starter set that I bought. I thought maybe I could go back and get more of some colors that I don't have. However, are those kinds any good? Can I do much with that paint, or is it just good brush paint? Is that included in their 50% off sale?

ah you missed the sale that went on last week for paint. all paint throughout the store was 1/3 off. i got a couple new little bottles of the Testors paint.

Re: Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!

Our store just had one two weeks ago because of a store opening in the area. Now there is one this week, and probably another one in two weeks.

Re: Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!

I wasn't going to buy anything. I just went to one of the branches to browse, but I couldn't pass the $10 Scaglietti. As a matter of fact, I got two, one for a stock 612, and the other for a curbside and the engine block donor for my 550 Maranello model. I couldn't find the Tamiya Enzo, so I'll visit another branch tomorrow.

Re: Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!

They do carry the Enzo, but it's not the easiest to find. I think there were 3 there when I went, but nobody seems to buy models from HL here. I also got my 360 Spider from there, quite possibly, they had the Modena also, but I don't remember.

Re: Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!

There are two Tamiya Enzos at the Denton HL. They marked the price up $10 over last week for the sale. It pissed me off so bad I couldn't buy one. This is quickly becoming my least favorite HL ever. But if you want one, you can get one for $25. They also had two of those 1:12 Testarossas. I still may go back and get the Enzo, don't know for sure. I'll probably be going to the one in Lewisville tonight. I just found it yesterday, at 8:15.

But they also had 2-3 360's and the usual Supras etc. I picked up the Corvettes I needed and the SRT-10 Viper. Has anyone seen the '67 Chevelle promod/prostreet/whatever they call it? That thing has some gigante slicks on the back!! I almost bought it just so I could pull them out of the box!

Re: Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!

Hey, tell me when you'll be there, and we can have a little meet. Or atleast a hello, what's up, introduction. I'm thinking about getting the 1/8th hotrod for a project for my dad and I, but first we have to finish that Captain Kidd boat.

I can meet you in the model aisle say around....6? That'll give me time to go home and grab my box o' models. (I brought some up to do a resto/final finish while I'm here) And maybe, just maybe, I'll go home with an Enzo.

Re: Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!

I could get that Enzo for you a bit cheaper if you want, and you just write a check to me for how much it is. 6 should be good, I should be done with my dinner at that time, and be able to go up there. I'll bring along my two current projects so you can get a look at them and give me some suggestions, and maybe I can help you out too.

Re: Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!

How much cheaper? I was thinking, I paid $25 for the F50...why am I so against paying that much for the Enzo? *shrugs*

Re: Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!

Another 15% off, so it would be a few more dollars, it's up to you. 25 bucks is really good for the Enzo. It is so damned detailed. I've yet to paint anything on it. All I've done is assembled the engine and it looks so damn cool.

Re: Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!

yea i'm afraid of my Enzo. i don't have enough skills yet to build it. and tell us if you ended up buying that Enzo.

oh and by the way i started the Ford F150 Lightning i am building for my brother. the sideskirts don't line up very well and the rear bumper doesn't fit all that great. oh well. hey 99civichic did you get any extra parts in the kit on some of the parts trees? i think i got an extra manifold of some sort, various parts, and i think two valve covers that look like they might belong to a Ferrari or some supercar.
