I drink too much

one could do the mary j instead of drinking. in cases of some of my closest friends though i have seen first hand the sad sad effects of marijuana. they used to be weekend smokers. then it was thursday through sunday. then every night. pretty soon they were kicked out of their housese for smoking too much, they didn't have any money to eat because they spent it all on weed. then my friend's girlfriend dumped because he started doing coke. he walked in one night with a track mark on his arm and his girl lost it. his loss was my gain though (hehe)

overall, most people i know don't let weed effect them that much but there is always the possibility. i'm not going to preach "drugs are bad, alcohol is bad" because i have done both and i drink every weekend. it's something we all do. its sort of like sex, just be smart and for the most part you'll be ok.

I smoke maybe once or twice a year. I have friends that don't care about anything except smoking weed. They don't pay bills or anything, no car, nothing... They are constantly bumming rides from those with cars and all they want to do is smoke. It pisses me off. Maybe that's why I drink so heavily. To show them I can get fucked up and still be responsible (not the night of), pay my bills: car, gas, insurance, student loans whatever...

Whatever though, I'm not going to become a smoker like them, fucking waste of money. At least when getting drunk I can spend 10bux on 40's and get retarded while they have to spend 50 bux a night to get a temporary high. LAME.

brilliant idea. just make sure someone doesnt switch out the bottles on you. i used to be into drinking but decided that it's not worth it. at least it wasnt when i was drinking with who i was drinking with. the kind of people who say "you're not drunk enough yet! drink more!" and i really was drunk so i actually listened to them and got more drunk. i remember lying on the ground and singing "i'm a barbie girl". then i guess i blacked out. i was told i went pee a lot and stumbled around the woods on the island we were camping on. those were good times. mostly.

not EVERY weed smoker turns into a hopeless social reject you know.

i used to only be an occasional smoker. now i'd say i smoke more days of the week then i don't. BUT, through the kind-ness of my friends, they'll usually share weed with me, or give me weed in return for a favor. this way, i don't have to spend all of my money on the stuff. not like i did in the first place. i never buy weed in bulk, because that just tempts you to smoke more and more since it's there. if you buy just enough for the night that you plan to party, and smoke it all, then you'll be left with nothing for the rest of the week and there-fore won't go smoking by yourself just because you have weed to smoke.

last weekend i smoked every day from thursday until wednesday. but i still pay my bills, still go to work, have a girlfriend (who smokes too, hehe), and i made a promise to myself to never, EVER, try any drug harder then shrooms. i've done shrooms twice, and the trip was fun, but to me it's not worth the money or the risk of physical/mental damage. therefore i will never ever touch coke, e, or anything hard like that. it's just not worth it.

i drink fairly often too, but never by myself, and usually it's only on weekends. i also know my limits very well, therefore i never get stupidly insanely don't-know-what-i'm-doing drunk, nor do i ever puke. i guess you just need to find your limits like i did. or, if you already know your limits, then stick to them .

another reason why i don't go over-board is because i usually mix smoking and drinking at parties. therefore, i get a nice drunk buzz going, and a nice high going. when you're both at the same time, you don't puke and don't usually get out of control, but you're still nicely fucked up too. it's a happy medium.

yea you should cut back on your drinking. You're only 22, way to young to die from driving drunk or to ruin your life because of alcohol! kudos for realizing that it is time to cut back, thats the first step to recovery!

i didn't mean to give the impression that smoking weed creates social rejects. i was merely making one example from a VERY miniscule select group of people that i know.

im moe of a drinker i used to drink about 5 nights a week. well id get fucked up 5 nights a week. but now i only get shit housed maybe once every other week and the rest of the time if i drink ill only have 2 or 3. as for weed, i have friends who only think about getting highit is their goal in life. i used to smoke a few times a day when i was in high school but it never affected my grades or my social life. i made the same grades as i did before i smoked or drank as i did when i smoked. and just to let u all know im pretty much a B student. and i was when i smoked every day as well. now the i only smoke on occasion. sometimes ill be drunk and it will be offered to me so i do it and other times if im having a shitty day at work ill but enough for a nice gravity toke from the guy i work w/ . neither smoking or drinking are that bad for you as long as you are in control and not the substance. if you can tell yourself enough is enough then your good.

That's the point I was trying to make. I'm not perfect and I've obviously done my stupid amounts of drinking, although not everyday. As sidewayz said "i have friends who only think about getting highit is their goal in life" This is what my friends have become. I quote my one friend "i need to get another job fast cause I'm out of money and I need to smoke weed and cigarettes!" It's all he cares about. He used to call me to go hang out at his house. So i'd go there and he'd be smoking. I'd sit there for 15 minutes and leave. His GF is a smoker too. They'd invite me to their friends house for a party or something. I'd go and it would be them and their friends smoking. I'd sit there quiet while everyone smoked. Eventually i'd leave. We'd go into the city for a concert, they'd want to stop in a park and smoke a bowl. It's fucking rediculous. I'm pretty sure that's why now I get blasted when large amounts of alcohol are around and they come around. It's not an excuse but I guess it's my motive.

I guess now I've had my fun and share of getting annihilated. It's time to find other ways to be social and have some fun. Time to grow up just a little bit. As you can tell by my posts and previous threads, I'm definately "that guy" at the party. I don't want to be "that guy" anymore and now it's time to sit back and watch others make a fool out of themselves.

as far as not knowing why you drink around your friends, i have the same problem sometimes, i think it's a subconcious peer pressure type thing goin on.who knows, this is why i'm not going into psychology or something like that.

I had a DUI once. I'm here to tell you that it's no fun. I was lucky.

So far I've lost three friends in alcohol-related car accidents. Two of them I had a talk with prior to it happening, since I was concerned. One said "I'd never do that, you know me..." and the other just laughed at me. My other friend was sleeping in the backseat of his own truck when the guy driving lost control and hit a rock cut, wrecked the truck. I feel so guilty about that one because he was supposed to be with me that night, but I wanted to stay home and he wanted to go out. Had he stayed with me he would have never been out there. Never.

All that pissed me off so bad that I can't drink alcohol anymore, I just can't do it. Lots of people think I'm retarded for it and that's fine and good, but it's just something I feel I have to do. So far it's been ten months, five days. My friends are probably proud of me, wherever they are.

I haven't driven down the road where the one crash was, I just can't do it. I take another way. It affects me that badly somehow.

MBTN, you don't want a DUI so smarten up while you still can. If anything I hope you do get a DUI so that you don't kill yourself or someone else. I wish my friends had DUI's...
