Re: Fuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!

i'm sure if you talk to your local attourney you can get some extra time to pay the ticket if you just are honest and plead your case....and if not...canadians are assholes....lol...j/k

Its a bad omen to hit a bird. But I guess you figured that out by now.

Seriously, I would fight the ticket. I mean come on, you were passing a truck.

Re: Fuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!

how the fuck did you have an interview in europe, and get pulled over in canada the same day? and now you're back in london? wtf raz?

oh well, maybe this new job will help you pay for that ticket, and be able to afford ill timed unexpectancies. Because there is always something coming up unexpectedly. You have to factor that in before you decide to make car payments. But I guess you figured that out by now.

Thats a sweet car dude, I hope you can keep it.

Re: Fuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!

raz, i vote for calling the courthouse and asking if you can set up a payment plan. fighting it is no use, since youve admitted to the cop that you were speeding. they have you on tape saying so. you may have been passing a truck, but speeding is speeding, and your technically only supposed to pass if the person is going slower than the limit.

the cool thing is, most court houses will work with you on a monthly payment plan. especially if you're upfront about it. they are more interested in you paying the whole amount, than whether or not you pay it off in one lump sum.

tell them you're a little strapped for cash, but you want to make good on the ticket. this will allow you to keep the car. talk to your insurance agent. if they're cool, you may get to keep your rate down a bit. im sure they'll raise it, but a hard luck story might make it a small raise. they worst they can do is say no.

good luck, you've got a sweet ride, dont give up on it so easily.

Re: Fuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!

LOL, First thing first I live in London, Ontario, Canada and the interview was in Windsor Ontario Canada, about 2 hour drive from London.
Anyways I think I will call some place like Pointts to see if they can do anything about the demerit points and call the courthouse about a payment plan.
Thanks guys... just never expected a ticket to cost so much.

POINTTS worked wonders for me. i got Careless Driving in 2003. $325 fine and possible 6 point loss, meaning my insurance would quadruple for about 5 years...basically meaning no driving for Brian for 5 years.

but the ticket was complete shit. there was a massive ice storm in April, iciest day of the year, and i spun out and hit a curb in a residential area. no damage to the curb or grass, and the only damage to my car was the tire coming off the rim. the rim didn't even bend, nor did the tire get damaged.

but the bitch across the street who saw it happen called the cops, and, sirens blazing as if something important had happened, a cop car came flying into the subdivision. they took down my story, and the stories of the 2 girls i was travelling with, surveyed the scene (OBVIOUS skid marks, which OBVIOUSLEY went directly over a large patch of black ice), and then slapped me with the ticket. i was fucking flabbergasted.

so i had to shill out $800 to hire POINTTS. he went into the prosecutor's office, she took one look at the charges, and threw the case out because, and i quote exactly what my lawyer said that the prosecutor said, "this is absolutely ridiculous. no ticket should even have been given in the first place".

so i'm out $800 for that, but i guess if you compare it to the hiked insurance, no driving for 5 years, AND $325 out of my pocket...it was worth it.

since you were passing a truck, they might be able to at least bargain it down a bit. but if the ticket is a straight up fine and no points, then you may as well just pay it so that you don't have to foot the lawyer's bill as well.
