Re: Vette Roadster
Although I'm not terribly fond of red interiors, yours is very well done, with clean crisp lines. For more contrast, or difference, maybe paint part of the steering wheel black (ie, flags in the center, or outer grip)
I painted around the vin tag on the window of my Z06's as well. If I recall correctly, it's molded in; nice touch. I don't have the patience to tape it all off, though. I didn't think to put mesh in, but the Z06 kits come with fog lights. It's funny, I built the AMT version of this car in an identical color. Yours looks more shiny, though.

What a gorgeous Vette! Nice job resurrecting this one, the paint is great and the interior too.
However, as far as the bubbles in your rear lights, there isn't much you can do. The last time I did this, I ended up having to yank the lenses off, clean off the glue with a wet Q-tip, and reglue them. A tip for the future: With Testors clear parts cement, only apply glue around the edges of the parts to glue, and any squeeze-out will dry invisible.

Re: Vette Roadster
DOOD< THATS FREAKIN" SWEET!!! I might suggest that you just re-try the tail lights, they look good (save for the bubbles) I think all you'd need to do is use a tooth pick to pick out the dried glue and BMF, then re try it. you could also thin the glue with a little water before putting it in, and building it up.
there is this stuff at hobby lobby called instant water, in the train stuff. just heat it (melts at like 140*f, which should be safe for your vette) and pour it in. then paint the red and wah-lah! tail aights.

Finally got some time this weekend to do a bit of finishing work on the Vette. I found out that my DM CF was black with clear (not silver) dots, so my black fuel rail covers ended up being textured black
. Well, that just wouldn't do, so out came the Castrol Super Clean. Now I've got titanium silver underneath the decals, so it doesn't look too bad, tho it still looks more like polka-dot than CF. I dunno--what think?

Re: Vette Roadster
nice job!
Yep, that CF does look a bit "polka dot-ish" to me too, but I'm no expert as I haven't even used CF yet

CF'd other side...still not sure whether to leave them or paint them something else--it doesn't look quite as bad as pics...I'll decide tomorrow...

Re: Vette Roadster
I misted some hobby store clear acrylic spray over the covers, and they've got a good semigloss finish. I might still airbrush some smoke or thinned black to tone down the silver a bit.

Finally got some more work done on this...almost done. I've got the body ready to put on the chassis, and i spent a couple hours getting the engine details right (although i'm not 100% done yet). I still hafta build some replacements for the lost chrome pieces for the side mirrors, but i'm pretty well ready to join the two halves. I also decided to airbrush some clear blue over the fuel rail covers for a better effect on the CF. I've included a couple pics of the engine--the light isn't the greatest, but it gives you an idea.

Re: Vette Roadster
Great work man. I'm very impressed by your interior and paint job. Please get some good cf. It's a shame to waste such a nice engine bay with out of scale decals.

Re: Vette Roadster
looking great so far. Revell really put some extreme details on the C5 kits (like the separate interior door handles and VIN tags) I think spraying something darker will tone down the cf...like smoke or thinned black, as you said.
