Re: Me Vs 05 Mustang GT

nice run man. gotta defend the gt alittle the reason ur susprised with it is ford errr bunch of douches and when the car shifts it closes the throttle blade to prevent powershifts and doesnt roll into full thottle for alittle after the shift is completed to prevent damage there is some other stuff but i dont wanna go into it and say something wrong bc i hanvt read the article in like 3 months but i know with a chip u can get back 25 hp bc of the things ford did to keep it from getting "hurt" good run though man really also with the chip mm&ff (muscle mustangs and fast fords) got it to run 13.1 something more 13.3 but i am postive it was low 13 's and with 4.56 gears new shocks radials and mufflers chip it ran 12.5!!!!! u got my respect even more jayson for running with one though gj man

what is your elevation? that changes a lot about times you should expect.

as for that article on the 05 gaining performance, its in the april 05 issue of MM&FF. the chip you're referring to is an SCT tune to get rid of the "drive-by-wire" thing that limits accelleration until higher rpms. the article was about 6 things to get the mustang in the 12s. they were the SCT tune, Magnaflow mufflers w/JDM tips, steeda underdrive pulleys, QA1 rear shocks, FRPP 4.30 gears, and MT E/T street tires. they were 6 things that cost under $2500 total to get it a best run of 12.45 at 107.92

Not all that impressive really. I mean, 108 MPH? Needs more power.
Not ripping the performance at all. It isn't bad. But it is 2005, and in 1999 people could buy an LS1 F-Body and run 12.45 for whatever they could get the rear-end and tires for. Maybe $2000 if you looked hard enough. Then you could use that other $500 for a couple breather mods, and be a touch quicker.
Hell, mine should be able to run 12.5 or so at 113 or so. Only $3K into mine.

Re: Me Vs 05 Mustang GT

It may be 3 years late but its performance is pretty even with the last Fbodys for the most part. I don't think thats a bad thing, I don't hear anyone with a 98+ Fbody complaining about power.

I disagree, the ability to run 12.5@108mph IS impressive because of the amount of power it uses. Sure 108 isn't as fast as your car, but it's running the same 1/4 as you are. With 1,000 less invested and 70 less rwhp. Also the article was to show how 'quick' it could do the 1/4 not what it trapped. So....to me, and many others it is impressive.

Yeah, but here is the thing....
I wasn't really refering to my car. For that $2500, I could have run faster than the GT did with a car from 6-7 years ago.
My car is best suited for roll races right now. I haven't invested much to help her hook yet. If I wanted to just get down the track quickly, I would have modded differently.

aww ok gotcha...what kind of engine mods do you have invested on your motor? 376rwhp is good. How did you get that kind of power?

Re: Me Vs 05 Mustang GT

That is true. All the work was done by me. Some of my mods I overpaid for. Not that it really matters.
I do my own work. I just like seeing if I can do it.

Car is cammed, most bolt-ons, and stock tune. Should be close to or over 400 RWHP with a good tune.
NHRA corrected (for altitude)times.....12.8 at 113. Slipping clutch, so there was no launch. 2.4xx 60' time.

I am not taking anything away from the GT. They are quick, and quick for cheap. I have seen a couple really move.

Re: Me Vs 05 Mustang GT

Good race jayson, I like your car and would like to get my cavi down to the times that your car is at. Usually the v8 guys get pissed of when you keep up with them or beat them.

Re: Me Vs 05 Mustang GT

none of us are pissed off that he keeped up with one. We all respect him bc he kept up with one kinda that oppestite. I have been beat by a few cars that are like being beat by a cavi (turbo civic). Becafe with that v8 guys say this or do that bs bc we dont like being Stereotyped just like you dont like being called a ricer or a little 4 cycl etc.
