Very nice paint job, do you intend to clear coat it? Or are you like me and there is not enough time.

hehe.... i will probably clear after contest "no time" but like you the only decals are the round number badges so ill trim the excess decal before applying. thanks for the great tip by the way! and thanks for the compliment. a question for the master if i may.... Phil, how long should i wait before decalling, can i hurt the paint or the decal if done too soon? thanks a bunch.

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1967 Ferrari 330 P4

With Tamiya TS paints I'd give it at least a day, longer if possible. There is not much chance of damaging the paintwork with decals. However setting solutions and heat from a hairdryer should be treated carefully.

As I found out the other day, heating up Tamiya masking tape can damage the paintwork underneath! I had the nose panel of my GT40 held in position with tape and hit the number decal with some hot air. Lucky the resulting blemishes were easily removed with some compound.

UPDATE:

This is going better and better! Its now on all fours. ive got more work to do on the rear chassis but im pleased with my progress. in fact this is probably my first progress thread with progress . i still need to build the spare tire rack above the tranny but since the body paint went so well today(refer to page 1 at the bottom) ive got plenty of time. thanks again to Phil for insight and motivation.

Looking good so far, one thing I did on mine was to add a couple of pieces of styren sheet where the engine is supposed to be. This prevents you from seeing straight through the model via the rear wheel houses.

Congrats to your paint job! Looks very nice. IŽd say: Skip the clear coating, if youŽre not forced to do so!
