Re: Should I buy this turbo?

You're thinking of the SSautochrome manifold. From what I've heard, its hit or miss on quality. But a guy on ka-t.org ran a 12.xx on it so I guess thats a hit.lol

atp has all the intercooler piping you need along with couplers adn T-bolt clamps, vacuum hoses, wastegates, bov, turbos, pretty much everything you'll need. Trust me, taking care of stuff correctly the first time pays off. I probably spent enough on cheap couplers to have bought three nice setups.

Re: Should I buy this turbo?

don't use a VQ turbo on the SR20... the T25 flange although on both is the same, a 3.0 L VQ T25 flange is ment to run with 1.5 L of flow, the T25 flange on a Sr T25 turbo, is ment to run with 2.0 L of flow?

SO, using a skyline turbo on a sr20, you will chock the turbo at top end. why? skyline tt hase a flow rate of 1.3 L Sr 2.0 L ?

don't get it, used turbos are a baaaad idea. rebuild them and they cost almost as much as the new ones.

Re: Should I buy this turbo?

Read the first post. It says 86 300ZX, which means Z31, not Z32.

Re: Should I buy this turbo?

ATP turbo looks like a good place, but they don't seem to have the 5 bolt flange for the compressor side of a turbo like this one:

Does any one know where I might pic up such a flange??

Re: Should I buy this turbo?

Now that I think about it, is it normal to have those 5 bolt holes on that side of the compressor? I thought normally they were different and looked like this one:

Re: Should I buy this turbo?

I'd rather have one with a coupler style comrpessor inlet. Makes for easier fitting. But I'm pretty sure you can buy adapters for the bolt style flanges.

Uh, how you gonna run with without a MAFS there? Remeber to put it at least 12" away fromt eh compressor inlet.

Re: Should I buy this turbo?

nissanfanatic, and other who know about turbos, why are the maf mounted before the turbo and the piping? Wouldn't it be more percise if mounted right before the intake manifold? Then if you have a leak or running atmospheric bov you won't stall the engine, instead start running it like NA tuned for turbo (if that makes sense).
And I would go for the second turbo or aftermarket hybrid, the first turbo looks way to funny, like they are trying to cover something.

Re: Should I buy this turbo?

IIRC, it's possible to moun it after the turbo, but because of pressure in the system, you might damage the MAFS, it's made to measure air gently flowing into the intake, not a 10psi hurricane.

Re: Should I buy this turbo?

Maybe, I never though of all the pressure on the unit, but then again the air is sucked in pretty fast too.

Re: Should I buy this turbo?

Adn the heat. Plus some MAFS's don't hold pressure well. Its just better to mount it before the turbo IMO.

Technical names are:

Blow through-mafs is mounted after the turbo
Draw through-MAFS is mounted before the turbo.

Old School SR guys hit on that so they didnt set stuff on fire when the IC piping came off but then you have to deal with tuning the ECU to recognize the new position so it would probably be easier to just go straigt to a MAP setup

Dayumm Homeboy that ATP site was a good find.
