Re: Lets put some supercars on a track. handling comparison

well its in motortrend and road&track
and all over the internet. i think its in car and driver too.

tis is my point of using these handling numbers for pure all out say of what handles best. cause it has a whole lot more to do with just slaloms and skidpad. though they do say something there not the all end of handling like some make it out to be

Absolutely correct. You want to be able to feel what the car is doing beneath you when the limit is approached. That's completely different from sheer grip, and is more important to driver enjoyment. The best car i've ever driven in that respect is a Caterham Superlight. Don't think it'll ever be beaten

Re: Lets put some supercars on a track. handling comparison

Here ya go:

The one i drove wasn't one of the insane R models, and therefore 'only' had about 140bhp. I say 'only' because weighing in at 490kg, 140bhp gives a superior power to weight ratio to a Porsche 996 Turbo. And with it being so light, you can brake late and carry lots of speed through the corners. The way it handles is really sublime and it's not hard to catch when it gets sideways. Very nimble, lots of feel. Awesome machine.

on the other hand, it looks fugly compared to a koenigsegg.

but it should be no problem to make a kit for that, to make it look like a tommy kaira ZZII for example. full urethane body which would weigh like twenty pounds of course.

On a tight track the opposition wouldn't see which way it went

Only if you're a crap driver

j/k... i don't see why it's easier to spin than another car, say something mid-engined. The fact that you sit right over the rear wheels in the Caterham means you always know when the back's about to push out.
