also...after the mini-me...when i buy parts for the engine...(such as the forged pistons)..would i buy them for a d16y7 or d16y8?...is there any differences between the two engines besides the head? (which i would be replacing with the mini-me)

real coil overs are like $1000. The stock shocks should work just fine. Unless you want to autocross, i recommend the Eibach springs.

The junkyard is your best friend. There is a junkyard where my friend lives in Eastern washington that sells all of their ecus for $8 a piece no joke. Just look around at your local salvage yards and pick a parts you'll be able to find something.

yeah...but i live in bakersfield...i dont think there are any junkyards around...or atleast any that would have anything...also..i dont know if i would know what i was getting (i dont know much about cars)..lol

damn... i thought you said you were on a budget... after spending the money for even a piece together turbo, headers, cat back, and the head, your easily looking to spend over 2500. if i were spending that kind of money i would save it untill i had it and but a b16a2 swap... you could find a complete engine swap kit for around that price, maybe a few hundred more but you would be at like 170hp instead of 130.... just my opinion... its your car, do what you want and like

eh yeah...i am on a budget...as of now i have 180..haha...getting around 300 more by friday...that list that i have is in the far future...and yeah i could save all summer and have enough for a swap...but im impatient...and even after the swap...i wouldnt have as fast of a car as i would with my original plan...and sure, once i saved another year (on top of the summer save), i would have a quicker car...but like i said...im impatient..haha ...ah, maybe in a couple years ill be sick of this car anyways, and ill be starting a new project....i dont need something that'll be pulling 9 sec times...i just want something that'll be quick, and have something to show off...in the end it wont be as quick as it could be...but i think ill be happy

edit: plus, i know jack about cars...so this'll be a good learning experience

yah you could swap in the B16, but then you would have to pay to get it installed as alacard said, he's new to this and he'd only be sitting at about 135-140whp. Where as with the Mini me and turbo he'd could be sitting at 200whp.

BTW, getting a header, not headers, if you're getting a turbo is pointless since you will have to get rid of the header anyhow.

So stick to your original plan. The stock Y7 block will handle up to 175whp without a problem. You'll be pushing it after that, but with a great tune, 200whp on a stock block is possible.

if it was me, a b series swap isnt too much money, like someone else said they are cheap. a shop where i live sells b18b1 motors for like $550, you still have to get axles ecu, all that b.s. but i would rather just save a little longer and throw an ls motor in, then slap a b16 or gsr head on it, then you got a fat lsvtec, which then you really have something to brag about....thats just my opinion, also i got a b20vtec for sale...it will fit into an 88-91 perfectly, but that doesnt help you i guess.

You guys keep saying that the B series swaps are cheap and they are in terms of motor swaps, but the prices you guys keep throwing out aren't for the entire swap. The entire swap is going to cost around $2000. With $2000 you get a whopping 140hp and need to spend more to make it fast. He's not looking for an all out drag car, just something quick. With $2000 into his D motor he could be looking at 200+WHP which is plenty for a daily driver.
