Re: Re: Re: intermittenly won't shift out of first
Well the mechanic gave me some synthetic automatic transmission fluid protectant to add to my oil to help clean the valves and stuff. Is this a good idea? Also someone told me you can use the turn the key three times and get the transmission codes but instead of being on the check engine light they are on the overdrive light. Is this true? I found these codes are they what will flash?
11 Engine RPM input 12 Output shaft sensor input 13 Vehicle speed input 14 Governor pressure sensor input 15 Throttle position sensor input 16 Transmission fluid temperature input 17 Overdrive override (control) switch input 18 System voltage 19 Internal fault in module 21 Governor pressure solenoid output 22 Overdrive solenoid output 23 Converter clutch solenoid output 24 Overdrive override (control switch) lamp output 25 Internal fault in module 26 Governor pressure sensor offset drift 55 End of code transmission |

Re: intermittenly won't shift out of first
the throttle linkage is in the engine compartment, on the side of the throttle body, I had this problem in my 94 after putting in a new engine I took it for a drive and it reved really really high 5000 RPMs before it would shift. I FORGOT TO RECONNECT THE THROTTLE VALVE CABLE...

Re: intermittenly won't shift out of first
well my FSM, says the same thing about the codes appearing on the OD light, but I have tried to check the codes myself using this method and the light never flashes, not even code 55.

Re: intermittenly won't shift out of first
I did read on the allpar web site that there are three variations on the Jeeps.
1> on-off-on-off-on 2> on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off-on 3> on-wait for the check engine light to go out-off-on-wait again-off-on

Re: intermittenly won't shift out of first
Well adding the synthetic oil to the transmission seems to have cured the problem. I think my governor valve was sticking. No problem for 6 weeks now .. hopefully it is fixed

Re: intermittenly won't shift out of first
GREAT to hear! So I'm guessing you want to talk about trading again? (Just kidding!)
