slipped it to the point where it wanted to go so it was pre-loaded, held the e-brake then dumped it and the e-brake at the same time

but like i said, i'm gonna get my friends slicks and give it a shot with those(assuming he still has them). hopefully i should hook up alot better with those.
and shaolyn, u also need to take into account elevation. that plays a big part on times too, i'm not too sure what the elevation is at Cayuga tho. maybe SiZ knows

Re: went to the track sunday

Evlevation isn't high enough to matter.

Seriously man, you just need practice practice practice, you're not going to run your best times the very first time you go out to the track. The lights and the timers there keep you very honest, its nothing like racing or launching on the street..

You just need more time there Derek, you don't need sicks that bad. (you shouldn't)

Re: went to the track sunday

depending on the size of the slick they might be too much for you?

really just keep practicing, you think you know how to drive your car but practicing at the track you get better, I dropped .7 seconds off my time from just learning how to drive better.

nope

seriously though, al you need is more experience at the track (plus a little less baggage in the car) and you should be in the mid 15's eventually. go out on some safe deserted road or somethin and practice your launches. its quite a bit different at the track because of all the rubber on the track, so you can launch at a few hundred higher rpm. but just get a feel for it and keep goin back. your times will get better and better till they become pretty cose and precise to those mid 15's

Re: Re: went to the track sunday

That makes me want to weep.
With my setup, I've hung with a 13 second vette. (He was out about 1 car off of me through the traps)
You can call BS if you want, but soon the proof will be in the pudding.

Re: went to the track sunday

sounds about right. when i was running with just a I/H/E only, I was consistently hitting 15.8 or so, 15.6 with my buddy (140lbs or so compared to my 220lbs) driving. after a new clutch and flywheel, chip and CAI, I was able to hit 15.135 on street tires. I'm interested to see how much better you'll get with some good tires.

Re: went to the track sunday

yeah you're friend doesn't know how to shut off the camcorder huh
But I agree with everyone else. Get yourself some good tires or slicks and remove as much weight as possible. I'd also say don't do the e-brake thing. If anything just put it in neutral, rev her up, drop her in gear and go. Practice makes perfect, just try different things until you get it right.
