I use to wear Redwing, and now I wear Ariat, I like them, they are the most comfortabe footwear I have ever owned. Also, I saw somewhere that instead of the "steel" toe, some companies are now going to a composite carbon fiber like toe that is supposed to be stronger. It also has the advantage that it can't cut your toe off if something to heavy falls on it. I don't remember where I saw that though

check out some boots made by "Cofra" i think its called, thats what i use as my workboot and riding boot for my motorcycle....its made in italy of (duh) italian leather and although they cost about 150US you will thank me they are made with kevlar and are approved for all sorts of heat resistant, cold resistant, electrical resistant (kevlar, not steel remember) and are just as light as regular boots...every step your boots make love to your feet ^_^

mine are simliar to the "illinois" but are actually a different model but thats the closest i could find in the picture catalogue they had, mine are the "kansas" model

well i have had a pair of doc martians for the last 4 yrs, they r steel toe and i wear them in snow and rain and summer heat and i love them about 145$ but i think its cheap for wut i get

yup i had a pair of doctor martins (they renamed em from doc martins) steel toe, stitching fell apart in 3 months, ive had this replacement pair of dr martin steel toe shoes (not boots) for about a year and some now and theyre just fine (look like hell from having furniture and stuff dropped on em and kicking doors shut but hey thats what theyre for)
