War doesn't accomplish anything that's worth all the deaths. Especially considering that most (or more likely all) of the deaths are of people who don't know or understand the issues, but have been forced or brainwashed into fighting. It always comes down to politics/personal power/someone wants a bigger sand-pit to play in. Yes there are a lot of technological advancements - mostly in how to kill more people more quickly. Ok there are others; but as I said earlier, I don't believe they are worth all the deaths and destruction.

"...the soldiers sought to achieve."??????? Like I said, the soldiers aren't seeking anything except to avoid getting killed, and hoping like hell they actually make it home alive to see their family again.

It's just not worth it. The people who actually want the war should line up in a big field, armed with hand-to-hand weapons, so they can't ignore what they're doing to their "enemies", and sort it out themselves, without involving anyone else.

The terrorist attacks of September 11 were acts of war. Ok, a different kind of war from what we usually think of, but these people saw themselves as being at war with the US, and could provide plenty of what was to them, justification of what they did - because they were (to paraphrase you) seeking to achieve something. What they did was wrong. I don't accept any system of belief that would say that their actions were not wrong. BUT, it was war - just a different kind.

War is wrong.

Cool! I want everyone else to think this way and then POW - I'll threaten to wage war on the world and since they all refuse to defend themselves, I'll own it all. Everything will be mine mine mine!!! (actually it is all mine now, I just freely loan out almost all of it)

This is great news! People are stupid because they dont know what they are fighting for. People just dont understand whats happening. These poor souls are sitting around all day waiting for the high and mighty to tell them what to think and what to do.

Sorry, my sarcasm is turning into disbelief.

Wars are fought for two reasons. Either someone is out for gain (similiar to stated above) or its fought because someone is attacking you. (self defense) We'll never be rid of the first one so unless your a spineless coward or French style capitulator, wars will be fought.

now, take what sham did, it can be considered an act of aggression. So in disagreeing he further proved my point that war and violence is in human nature, and will always happen.

As yog stated you can defend or die.

As for the people knowing they arent fighting and most of the stuff you said, its case specific, i believe we dont need any explanation or examples of that, but yeah

sorry about the knowing they arent fighting thing, been a long day...what i meant to say "not knowing the true purpose for which they are fighting" or not truly believing in it but doing it for thier facist govt. (ya know, like the US and all )
