Didn't this happen in cartoons all the time? I think Chilly Willy weighs less than 30 pounds, he never fell through the ice.

Re: ice circles??

Some guys I know saw something like this on the lake by my house many years ago. They took photos of it. There were three circles, each 12 feet in diameter, in a triangle formation. There were no tracks around, and the ice was just missing. Just gone. They told me it was perfectly cut out, not jagged or anything like that.

Re: ice circles??

I confess I did it. I flew out my bed room window that night and I did it. You better not tell anybody.

1.) POND = No/very little moving water.
2.) The weight of the person doesnt matter, its the dispacement that counts. Person could have weighed 300lbs, but if they layed down their weight would be spread out enough they wouldnt break through. (Thats why if your friend falls in you shouldnt stand at the edge to help them, you should lie down.)
3.) At night (when it was probably done) the ice would be at its coldest and strongest.
4.) Very doubtfull thickness of ice can be guaged from photo.
5.) A reasonably intelligent person, with the right materials could construct this from the banks surrounding the pond.

Line point anchor,

And yeah from the bank, suspended by the tree which hangs over the lake, or with their weight deispersed evenly - even with a board layed over the ice,

This would not be hard to do if you wanted to,

And there are probably a dozen ways to pull this off without involving the aliens or gremblins - They didn't do it, I asked them
