Drinking Age

And the funny thing is that this was the same kid who wrecked his car a few weeks ago. I told him I would give him a ride home but he was all pissed at some girl. I told him we will come back tomorrow and pick his car up hes like no im fine im like ok. Then I go home and about 10 mins after i walk in the door he calls and said that he hit an electric pole and wondered if I had a truck to pull it some where or haul it. Im like no even though it was sitting in the garage, I didnt want to take my dads brand new truck out and get whacked with a ticket for some odd thing trying to pull this car down a road at 3 am. He got hit with a couple of tickets but he got an absoulte sobreity or something like that other than a drunk driving. IDK how that worked. I swear I feel like im the only one at my school that is smart when it comes to drinking. How hard is it to understand, you have too much to drink you dont drive. Im sure someone will give u a ride home. If not stay at somebodys house.

yeah its pointless to have that age 21, no matter what age you are, you can get ahold of beer or liquor, i think it should be 18 because you can buy a house, vote for the next president, be in the military and die for your country, but yet the country you could die for wont even let you buy a beer, thats f*cked up IMO

I'm 20 and I think the drinking age should be lowered to 18, its not a big deal to me though since I dont drink much, its not like kids don't have easy acess to it already... spend all the money (saved from less inforcement and made from increased tax generation) on teaching college kids like myself not to kill themselves and that overdoing it every week isn't a great idea.... people will be idiots either way though, you can always count on there being lots of idiots in america.

I think if you can reach the counter, you should be able to buy it, but should have to be 18 for clubs and bars. But that's more to keep kids out of my bar than to keep them from drinking.

Although, it seems like the age for driving is getting pushed back, and the idea of getting your drivers license and drinking license on the same day just sounds like a disaster in the making.

I think in WI your parents can buy you beer.

Well, think about this. Everyone in here has noted that people under age get beer all the time right? So if the age was 18, then imagine how many more 14 and 15 year olds would be drinking and complaining about the drinking age. Its just never good enough. 21 is fine. I've had many many many a drinking party, and its not a big deal because Im responsible and have responsible friends. If you can stay out of trouble then it doesnt matter what age you are because no one is going to find out. Its not illegal if you dont get caught. Plus, imagine if 18 year olds were allowed to take their cars and go to clubs and get hammered. Lets be realistic. Some of us may have been at a maturity level where we could handle that responsibility at age 18, but whats the percentage? Not good enough. I think its fine how it is.

Im from WI and I know you can sit at a bar with your parents and u can have beer. But I know a few people got Furnishing Malt Beverages to Minor tickets. But one time me and my uncle were at Hooters and the Hooters Girl didnt card me the first time cause my uncle told her to give me whatever beer i want. I got 1/2 through the 2nd glass and the manager came over and took my beer because he asked for my ID and my uncle told him that i was his kid and he said even though its legal in WI to do that but you cant do it at Hooters. Im like WTF. It is kinda BS though its 21. You can work at a grocery store and sell it, be a bartender, take out loans and buy cars, go to prison and all that other stuff when you turn 18. But people act like its radio active until u turn 21. Some people dont want u to look at it

Well in Oklahoma the legal age for gambling is 18 years old. I can walk in to a casino, bet hundreds of dollars in a matter of minutes, buy cigerettes or cigars in huge boxes, and walk right into the bar and order a drink. Sure they I.D. but if you know friends there you can get around it. If you're able to do most of the stuff there why not add drinking to it?

Personally I say leave it where it is. Think about your senior year and your classmates that were 18. Did most of them seem responsible enough to handle drinking legally?

Not a whole lot of seniors are too smart when it comes to drinking. Same thing with me up her in WI its easily beer can easily be purchased. But is there some way to lower or get out of a underage drinking ticket? Other than not drinking. Also can they really trace a barrell or a case of beer back to its place of purchase?
