Never had any trouble with 10W-30 by Valvoline in any of my vehicles. Always changed between 3 and 4 K.

While I don't recommend Lucas additives, I think "Bob the oil guy", not quite sure what the webpage address is for sure. But he's done a study on Lucas products (If I recall right) added to oil in which it wasn't a good outcome.

I've never added a single drop of oil additive, but I do religiously every 3K mile oil/filter changes. I do NOT recommend going above 3K miles, these Isuzu's like clean oil.

I personally have never seen the point in synthetic oil, at least not in the Isuzu engines, as these trucks seem to fair much better with very frequent oil changes, and thus defeats the purpose/cost of synthetic oils.

IMHO, from my own stubborness, don't think I'd ever go to synthetics personally, in any engine (unless it came from factory that way), as I've been religiously born/raised into the 3K mile regimen; and I don't think my mind would be at ease increasing that mileage.

Well, I switched back to conventional 10W-30(Havoline), but really haven't driven around much so much hasn't changed yet (still ticking...alot), but I guess I'll know tomorrow when drive around a bit.

What I recommend is running that new oil for about 1,500-2K miles then change it & filter again, sooner then usual. And before dumping it, get that oil good & hot before undoing the drain bolt.

May want to wait 10-15 minutes after driving it for about 20-30 minutes or so. But the hotter the oil, better to get the crud out.

Also, what kind of filter are you using? I have tried, over the years, Mobil 1, AC-Delco, Bosch, Fram (only once), three out of those 4 made my truck "tick" and my truck's not a ticker.

If your truck has never been a ticker, and IS now a ticker, check the quality/name of that filter. They could've also put a low-quality filter on there.

I've since gone back to only Isuzu OEM filters.

My 3.2L will tick if I don't keep the oil level pretty close to full or let the change slide to around 4K.

Guess what...changed to conventional and the TICK is gone. I can't believe that from one type of oil to another it makes such a big difference. WHY IS THAT????

Synthetic is more slippery, so maybe it is not able to "stick" to the lifters as well.

Did you change anything else? The type of filter perhaps? I only ask this because I fail to understand how having synthetic oil in a vehicle for 10 minutes will cause it to tick. Lifter tick, as I understand, is caused by the hydraulic lash adjusters not fully extending. While varnish build up seems to be the main culprit, I've heard that lower than normal oil pressure to the lash adjuster can also cause it to "not fully extend". If your engine didn't tick before Jiffy Lube got ahold of it, 10 minutes worth of synthetic oil is not going to cause it to varnish up. Additionally, the oil pressure of an equivalent weight of synthetic oil should be the same as that of Dino Oil. I was just wondering if maybe the filter Jiffy Lube installed was the culprit. I've read other vehicle forums (Ford Probe, Mitsu, etc) where owners have experienced lifter tick with any filter that wasn't an OEM filter regardless of the type of oil used.

As we all know though, Isuzu lifter tick seems to be a strange beast. Some oil and filter combinations work on some vehicles, but on others they cause it to sound like a sewing machine.

I believe Jiffy Lube uses a Pennzoil filter. But, I used a Fram oil filter and Havoline oil. I don't get it either, why some things work on some Rodeo and not on others, but thank goodness this particular chapter on my Rodeo list of things to do is taken care of.
