i hear what you're saying. however, i'm not looking to get horsepower from it. i just wanna know if i'll get better gas mileage with it. call me crazy, but i don';t think anyone replied with i direct answer to that single question.

thanks a million.

dude. ok.. no it will not help get you better gas mileage. is that good for you? the reason why they say all that stuff on the commercial is because it burns the fuel more effectively... not effiecantly. get it?

Yo, NYcivic! Keep your tires well inflated! That’ll do more for your gas mileage then anything else! Also, keep your eye out for who ever got the cheapest gas in town. That as well will save you some scratch in the long run as well.

eckoman_pdx: My father accidentally hit premium when I first got the dx, and it sounded like hell for the whole week. My mother did a similar thing with the focus(just with 'plus'), and under heavy acceleration, it would sound like somone inside the engine wanted to come out. And agian when a friend wanted to see if premium would help his 2.2l(or was it 2.0l?) Corsica's performance...

You are, of course, the local expert. It could just be coincidence...

I have been reading this stupid shit over and over. One person actually said it burns the gas more effectively and not efficiently "get it" ---- Wow I thought I was in the 3rd grade again. The reason why that product and similar are on the market is because yes, they do something. IF you have a tunnel and air is passing through, it will pass through more rapidly if it is spinning. Actual toronadoes don't get their power from just sitting still. The faster the toronado, the more air it moves and kills more people and does more damage. There is going to be more air taken in by your engine and if it isn't more, then your engine will simply take the air in easier. There is no possible way that adding that to your intake will do NOTHING. The fact that nobody has tried it speaks for itself. Try it and then return it for a money back guarantee. Why would they give you that and go through all the trouble of shipping, etc.? Common sense tells you it does something. If you save 50 cents a day, and it costs 70$, then in about 140 days, it'll be paid for. that's around 5 months. But I'm sure you would save more and it couldn't hurt. It will also last longer than that(the stainless steel will not simply deteriorate from your rough driving) I was about to get one, but my girlfriend just wrecked my 2000 civic ex. Now I'm putting a b16 in my 88 hatch. Anyways, everyone should just stop writing about this without doing any research. And yes, certain cars aren't made for 93 octane gas (which really isn't 93), but I bought my 00 civic in 99 new and put nothing but the highest in there and it has always given me performance. The only time I have gotten black soot around my muffler from burning too rich was when I had my MSD ignition hooked up. Other than that, the actual 91 octane is simply the cleanest gas. It costs a couple cents more, but when you get down to the end of your tank, and there is no gas station around, you'll be glad that you used it because your car will not start to spudder and backfire due to the water content found in the lower octane gases. Thank you all for doing your homework. For the dx, maybe the non-vtec engines don't like the way 93 octane gas tastes.

Re: Tornado- Increased Gas Mileage???

When you have low-profile tires, it doesn't take much to keep them inflated. Besides, if you love your car, you always look at them to keep them in check. Efficiently is spelled like that. How the hell would a car enthusiast tell you to put the cheapest gas in your car? That's so bogus. In the old cars I've had, if I put 87 in there, sometimes they wouldn't run. (American cars)

bein that i'm still a newbie, i'm gald that ya'll have been talkin about the gas and octane ratings. TRUTH BE TOLD, whenever i put 93-94 (sunoco) in my tank, i swear to you i get 40-60 miles more to my tank than when i use 87-89. I always fill my tank up and reset my miles when i do so that i know how much i get per gallon (average). who knew?!?!?

You are, of course, the local expert. It could just be coincidence...
It's coinisdence. Preimum WILL NOT hurt a motor that doesn't need it. The octane rating OEM's give is MINIMUM RATING.

I run preimum on my B18B1 all day long, it's all I'll put in. Does it NEED it? NO, but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a difference. I do get better mileage on Premium, and my MPG per tank verified it. When the gas attendant (no self serve in Oregon) Put 87 in my tank once on accident, I could notice a difference.

Fact it if you've had people who've had bad luck. That is the ONLY CASE I have EVER heard of with that....EVER. I know PLENTY of people who run hiogher octane rated (typically 89 or 92) gas than the minimum their car needs (87). NONE of them has EVER had issue....EVER. The Octane rating IS the gaslones abilty to resist detonation. When my old D15B7 was knocking BAD like 3-4 years ago, the only reason I got it to last 2-3 more months was I retarded the timing, which helped some, and then switched to premium. It helped reduce the knock enough where the motor went a few more months before blowing.

If you've had people who say they had bad luck cuz of preimum, I'm sorry but Higher Octane WON'T case that. I filled my Tank in Lynwood, WA once with Shell 92. It ran like SHIT. Awful Gas milege. My gosh, it must be the PREMIUM!!! The LS doesn't need it, so that's why!!!

NO!!!!It was just a shitty tank of gas. I filled it with Chevron 92 2 days later and it was fine. I've filled with with SHell 92 since then and been fine. It was just a shitty tank, and the motor didn't like it. Now I don't know the cuases of your friends issues, but a higher Octane than the minimum rating WON'T harm the motor. Think what you want, but the fact still remains. So you know people with bad luck, they got a crappy tank of gas....that doesn't make it fact. Think what you will, but an LS has a minimum octane rating of 87, and I run only 92 on it. Been that way for 3 years. Never had issue...ever...the car and motor are as happy as a clam.

But that's right, you know people who got a crappy tank of gas and or gosh knows what else caused it and they blamed it on the octane rating...so me and everyone else, we're just lying or innocrrect...right?
