Re: White smoke and Oily Plugs

Your motor is a D15B2, can't help you out with the other stuff though...

that sucks man your headgasket went, but they tend to in the D15B2, the head gasket went out in mine and I had the same problems you had, just little puffs of smoke out the back occasionally and my temp gauge would go up to the red I would stop it would go back down, then go back up and down and up...I think my engine went into the red around 3 times before I had someone tell me my headgasket went out. The head was deformed when it was taken off and had to be worked on, and the gasket replaced. The engine was NEVER the same after that, and my rings were deformed. I replaced the engine with a D15B after the distributor went out and all is good now. You might want to look into getting a replacment engine from Japan for around 400-500 for a decent one and swapping...it's not too hard to do if you just study up a bit. If you do decide to replace the headgasket, be warned that your rings are probably deformed and your car will burn oil if you don't do bottom end rebuild...in which case you might as well get a new engine. Good luck!

Re: White smoke and Oily Plugs

It seems to be all good for me now. Yesterday I took off the head and found pound of water in the engine. The head gasket was really bad. I replaced head gasket along with intake and exhaust gasket. It was not that big of the deal I bought shop manual for my car and it gave me detail direction how to do it and it took me about 5 hours. The car seems to be much more powerful now and it runs great. No more smoke no jerking. One thing I learned from my old mechanic was not to use after market head gasket he told me to go to Honda dealer and get gasket it was little more expensive but worth the money. It's all good for now thanks for your input guys.

Re: White smoke and Oily Plugs

another problem with old cars with low milage is that they might sit way to much and the gaskets dryout and crack, for example I seen a car with the gasket between the tranny and the engine bad, if it was driven every day it would hardly leak but he left it sitting for a week and as soon as he started it up lost likee half of his tranny fluid in the first few mins but it stoped after that and he was able to fill it up again, what was happing was that the seal was drying out and shrinking so that when the trany fluid hit that part it went right thru the damaged part, but as soon as it got wet it expanded a bit and only leaked a little bit. should of seen my friends face when he started his car drove it out of the driveway and ran inside to get something and then tranny fluid was seeping out from under the car :P. but i assume the same could happen to a head gasket, if it is really old and havent been driven much it is probley dry and cracked up
