Re: THe Bible Code / Revelations ETC.

Why do people believe that the Bible is some sort of absolute truth? You could take any old book and through problems with translations turn it into meaning something crazy. The bible isnt a book that flew down from heaven one day. It is a book written by men about 350AD. They are all stories that were written down based on some peoples translations of other peoples writings. Religious leaders of that time took certian quotes and filled in details of what they thought should be in there.

Basicaly what I am trying to say is quit beliving any of this crap. This has about as much relevance as someone doing the same thing to your 10th grade history book.

That depends on which side of the fence you are standing on.
The word believe in your sentence is key.

There is no problems with translations in the Bible for the most part. That is just a myth.

Earlier than that actually.

Sorry. That's not true. It has been proven to be the most accurate of all ancient manuscripts.

Try reading it and really looking into the history of the writtings and the prophesies. I think you would be suprised. If nothing else it is a great insight on how people lived and thought in those days. Don't get a King James version though. Even though it sounds poetic with all the thees and thous it's sometimes hard to follow.

Re: THe Bible Code / Revelations ETC.

Actually the date of the Constantines council meeting to write the bible dates around 325AD where they really did take writings that were basicaly quotes written down by deciples, not full stories, and they created stories out of them.

I should have been more specific, I didnt mean that towards the bible I ment it towards the bible code stuff. I have read the bible

You should do some reserch on how the bible came to be, it really makes you think twice about the writings in it. Dont get me wrong I think its a great book that teaches many valuable things there are just a lot of strange things about it and the history of Jesus that make you question a lot of things that you are taught in church. For example there are writings almost EXACTLY like those about Jesus about a man named Ma_____something I cant remember, but his name translated into Jesus Christ and almost everything recorded about him was exactly the same as Jesus as we know him, even down to the last supper, crusifiction(sp?) and rising from the dead, its really wierd. If you do reserch it make sure you keep an open mind to both sides of the argument though so you dont come off sounding like an ass like I did in my previous post

You are referring to when it cannonized (I think that's the word I am looking for). That was when they took all the ancient manuscripts and alot of the letters and stories and teachings from the apostles and Christ and decided what was to go into the actual book. Most of the biiks of the Bible were written long before that date and nearly all of them can be backed up with ancient scrolls and artifacts that have been discovered since then.

Misunderstanding. No big deal.

I have done a lot of study on that topic.

If you run across a link or a book on that subject I would be interested in reading it.

You didn't come off that way. I am always interested in learning new things about Christianity and other religions. I didn't start out as a Christian and really had my doubts about it as well as other religions. When I began looking into it I tried to have an open mind about all of them and I still try and stay that way. It's not always easy because I have been a Christian for a number of years now and I imagine my view on the matter is somewhat biased. I try and remember that how I feel about my beleifs is the same as how others feel about theirs.

Well, I believe if you asked an orthodox Jew about that they would give quite a different answer. You see Jews have been following the teachings of the Old Testament for thousands of years. Thousands.

I was referring to the new testament, although some books of the old testament were excluded as well.
