so you bought a new thermo? and you think its bad? Is there any leaks anywhere? How much did you pay for this thermostat? Maybe you should go down to baxter or a respectable parts store and buy the right thermo.

Man i am having the exact same problem but ive done everything and nothin gets better, it seems to be getting worse, ok i have changed out the waterpump, fan clutch, 170 degree thermostat, gone thru two radiator caps bought a new 16lb and now ive got a 13lb, flushed the radiator, and took it today to have it rodded out and just put it all back together and its still over heating, it all started about a month ago when i put the water pump on, i have heard that u have to pay attention to buying water pumps from places other than the dealers because the propellers on the auto parts store pump arent always the exact length of the oem is this true? i am at my wits end with this car i am seriously contemplating selling it ,nothing but trouble and its busting my bank ,what is there left to do?

Flush It.let It Cool (if Your Rad.works Cool H20 Will Come Out First Then Hot From The Block.)

Fill With 5050coolant(best Choice)
Fill Resvior Between Min & Max
Let Therm Open
This Is The Tricky Part
The Reservior Coolant Is Suppose To Be Suckd In By
Vaccum (but That Wont Really Do The Trick.)
Check And See If The Coolant Is Being Drawn Into The Radiator

yes i am filling it right. i have also opened the bleeder valve for around 30 mins and nothin but either bubble or a foam like stuff comes out never actual stream of coolant/water. any one know about the water pump question i had? if the propellers are always the same from autoparts store to oem? and since i have put the radiator on last night when i drive the temp gauge goes down when im on the gas but as soon as i push in the clutch to shift it goes up the when i let out for next gear it shoots back down. so whats the deal? DAS14sniper i believe i need all ur overheating info. haha

if you are using a thermostat from autozone it will ALWAYS overheat. they don't have air bleeder holes in them.

go to your local nissan dealer, buy a radiator cap and thermostat. oem stuff is always best.

if its still overheating check if your fan is working. mechanical fan? ok, if so that's not the problem.

do you have a front mount intercooler? if so its definitely your radiator. the fmic blocks air coming to the radiator, so you need more radiator thickness and it almost has to be aluminum. koyo sells an awesome one for around 300/shipped.

if you are still overheating its either your water pump or there is shit in your engine's head, or a bad head gasket.


make sure you are bleeding it correctly.



1. Fill the overflow tank to the full line.
2. Make sure heater is fully on the hot side.
3. Remove engine bleeder screw and radiator cap
4. Fill very slowly until coolant comes through bleeder.
5. Close bleeder.
6. Continue filling until radiator is full.
7. Squeeze all hoses to release more air. Keep radiator topped off.
8. When full, install radiator cap and run engine.
9. Fill overflow and radiator as necessary. Keep heater on hot.
10. Hope to god it works because you really don't want to repeat the process again.

If It Cools Down When U Drive It, Coolant Is Flowing.
Hows Your Clutch,did U Changed It Recently
I Read That If Your Clucth Is Worn Or Not
Properly Alligned Its Causes Heat From Friction Heat Transfers Make Your Block Hot.im Going To Look Up The Source And Give The Link.(i Never Heard Of It But It Could Be Possible )

I dont know what DAS14 was trying to say, but this is the proper way to fill with coolent. Leave the engine running after you do this for about 5-10min, then come back and open the radiator and see if its still full...

yea i was thinking head gasket....thats what caused my car to overheat all the time. Got a new one and it runs at correct temps. Yea, it cools down when your moving then you slow down or stop and temp gauge goes up up up. Then you get going again and down it goes. I feel ya on that, i had to drive in the summer with my heater on....talk about schwetty balls.

i didn't even follow those myself lol. just undo bleeder screw, fill until it topples out, close it off, and fill the rest up. put radiator cap on and go drive. past that the cooling system will basically bleed itself.

ok guys i appreciate all of ure help...it wasnt the water pump, thermostat, electric fan, radiator cap... it wasnt none of that.....pist me off tooo......my cluster was bad.........i changed the cluster and everythin was normal......can believe it was the fuckin cluster......all that work too....
