that is true, but it neglects things like wind resistance, drag, friction, etc.

Everyone who is saying that hp equations include weight are correct when it comes to physics, but this may not be the same way it is applied to car engines... also weight may be a factor that is cancelled out when applied to certain systems. This may be the case with cars, i couldnt tell you for sure.

My educated guess is that the weight is in terms of force which would be the force applied to turn the wheels. The weight included in that force is independant of the car weight

yep you're right there, the weight of the car has nothing to do with the actual hp calculation, but once you get into the very advanced math and physics, the weight of everything that effects the way the engine turns, such as friction, rotating mass, all that jive comes into play... i really don't like thinking about it tho... gives me a headache even trying to comprehend those equations
