800 HP? Is that with a 2000 cc engine? I showed this post to my friends and they don’t believe that a 4 cylinder can make that much power, especially a BMW. But BMW has experience developing astronomically powerful engines for many years. In 1983 the Brabham Formula One team won the driver’s championship, thanks to their BMW engine. It had a 1.5 liter displacement and produced well over 1000 HP. Not many people know about it. Of course, it did have a huge turbocharger, from a truck!!

Especially a BMW??????? whats that about??? BMW arguably make the best engines in the world! 800bhp from a 4 cylinder is very possible..

The F1 engine developed 1400bhp from 1.5l, and that was in the eighties!

Yeah, I know!:smoka: I can't understand why that's so hard to believe?
And also 1400 hp was in quallifying, in the dyno tests it made over 2000 hp. And probably more because the dyno topped out at 2000hp!!!!!

Cool Oh yes...

I was talking about bhp, :smoka: you know on an engine dyno, not the back wheels. :smoka: But yes, it is quite possible, this was a Formula One engine for a very well funded team, :smoka: but you can imagine, part of the credit would have to go to the fuel they were using.

Nelson Piquet, the 1983 Formula 1 champion said that the Brabham had to be driven different style than other cars, "point and shoot":smoka: he couln't put the car on full throttle on any of the races, rear tyres broke loose even at 160 mph!!!

Talking

Yeah, :smoka: you can't get an accurate maximum hp reading when you constantly tear the wheels off! :smoka:

I was told by a guy I know who sells BMW's that there was a car just like that on the showroom of a BMW dealership he used to work at in California.
In regards to 800HP four cylinders. Hyundai has an 800 HP Tiburon that will be on the import drag circuit this year. So anything can be done if you have the money.
