But you are right! This is the Class for the BMW and in this Class the BMW is expensive, heavy, the quality is O.K. and the little Engine is ..........
German Car Magazine says - in this category the BMW 120i is well - but nonrevolutionary! In the most Test is the BMW for the second Place good enough!

Are you sure about that? It is the new Magnesium block engine, I doubt it will be much heavier.

Yeah, that is the 120's target group. The 350Z competes with other 2 seater sports cars around 30-40k.

This includes the
BMW Z4 (2998lbs)
Honda S2000 (2835 lbs)
Porsche Boxster (2965 lbs)
SLK3509 (3231 lbs)

The 350S MT ranges from 3188 to 3299, with the exception of the Mercedes is 200 lbs heaver than any of it's rivals, and as much as 465 lbs heavier than the S2000.

Oh, this ( old, japanese Model and tested in Australia ) Test is very bad!
We have many Test and Comparison Test in Germany from this Car and the Result is totally different. Has the 2004/2005 Nissan 350Z for Europe or Germany a other Setup? Other Tires? Other shock absorbers and anti-roll bar? Is this the Track-Version ( is the standard version in Germany ) from the 350Z?
I cannot understand this result!
The Nissan 350Z is the FIRST accepted 2 seater sports cars from Japan in Germany!
On a German Test Track the 350Z was 1.68sec. faster than the Audi TT 3.2V6 Quattro with DSG. And the Audi TT has a very good reputation in this Sport Car Class! The Chrysler Crossfire and other Cars in this Class are clearly slower.

I was a member of a large 350 z site for a while and understeer is one of the Z's main handling problems.

In America, Nissan barely changed anything to the car's mechanics over the the years.

It still has tire feathering(problems with the front suspension)
Transmissions are incredibly bad (some Z's are on their 3rd)
Rear axles have problems.

The track has the brembo brakes and rays wheels, other than that it is the same as a perfomance model(technically).

You can remedy the problem with stiffer swaybars, but stock it does understeer quite a bit.

Thanks for the information! The "Z" is new on the German Market and we have no longterm Experiences. Also for the new BMW these information is missing.
