5% of the students got caught smoking weed....HAHAHAHA funny...how about the 75% of people at my job and about 90% of people in my department alone who do it....even some of my bosses....how about when you walk on my campus, everybody's asking each other for nug...and i've got teachers who like to roll blunts in their spare time.....

granted nobody's stupid enough to do it where they can get caught, other than that 5% of people in your school kid....it's not that bad damn....second guessing your friends because they toked up....you've got a lot to learn kid.......

i dont see how i'm over reacting. In such a small community, it matteres to everyone. Instead of being in secluded groups, which I find to be more common in public schools, here we're just one big family. At lunch you could be with your friends and can be sitting only a few seats away from a person you really despise. and Sure some people hate some other people, but no one really shows it or does anything about it, because they know it;s not worth doing anything against that person, because you are risking alot, and so you back off and say whatever and take the right steps such as ignoring them. It;s that type of community. but i dunno, It's hard to explain. Everything such as this affects the community here. I sure as hell dont doubt that it happens elsewhere but here, it has more effect here. I guess I can say the reason why is because you live with these guys for at lease 2 years if not all of your 4 years here.I also care because half these guys were my friends, and it's very upsetting to see them leave, and wonder why did they do what they did in the first place. ALso, there are boy dorms and girl dorms. THe dorm called Insley, where the boy sophomores and freshmen are, about 2 freshmen left (other freshman was in FLight Deck), and 12 sophomores(other 4 were form the sophomore/junior dorm, East and Davies), out of the 31 people in insley, including prefects. That's almost than half the dorm.

I dunno, maybe I am over reacting, and so are my other friends and the girlfriends of the people that left. But at Blair, things affect everyone around you, especially very deeply when they are your friends.

I grew up in an urban immigrant community and me and my friends tried weed for the first time when we were 12 and even got drunk at school in gr 8. We werent worried about being expelled, we were worried about getting are asses kicked by our parents if we got caught. We were taught if we have a problem with somebody to deal with it, ignoring doesn't make problems go away. How are you guys gunna deal with the real world if they're raising you to be spineless? If i have a problem with somebody, i'm gunna tell them, and if they continue giving me a problem they're gunna be leaving something for the tooth fairy

So you should understand why most people are laughing at this thinking, whats the big deal

not exactly. plenty of people are on financial aid here.

I understand how this is a life lesson for them, but thinking that we're getting such an elegant education here, I'd expect them not to do it.


Basically, the whole point of this thread was for me to say how I'm so upset and just to share these recent events. I'm dissappointed at why they would do it, and especially here when they know the rules are upon them. All I hope is that they can learn from it. Secondly, we're not all white here. we have a large diversity here, such as people from as far as Korea, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, to just around the corner like New York, and still pretty far, California. thirdly, what i meant to send was also that the rest of the year for many people is gunna suck because so many good and awesome people left.

well the final result is that all of them are expelled for the rest of the year. some will be given the option to reapply next year.

I went to a catholic boarding school, I was friend s for a bit in 4th form with a delinquent who dealt al sorts of homebake, he never got caught.


In my 7th form year, 10 4th formers got expelled for dealing marajuana, they deserved it, anyone dumb enough to break the law at school SHOULD get expelled.

I would agree somewhat that this is an over-reaction, or maybe to word it better, he's making a fuss over something that he shouldn't really be concerned about.

Yes, these people broke the law, yes marajuana gives the school a bad image and yes marijuana should be kept out of schools. So long and YOU'RE not doing it, then it need not concern you.

They were right to be expelled and none of this would have happened if thier parents took the time to kick thier ass when they screwed up as kids. Mine did and I'm all the more thankful for it, gave me the dicipline to get where I am today

I never saw the big deal from the get go. You say that these were awesome people, and they were popular, loved by the community, great personalities, and now... "oh my god... they smoke weed? Im so disappointed."

Look what you just did. You're going to have to realize at some point that a lot of people smoke weed. You can choose to disassociate yourself from them if you want, but if this is a big shock to you, then you are going to have a rough time in the real world.

I can understand the disappointment. Kind of. When I was a freshman and sophomore I always told my friends I wished they wouldnt smoke weed. Then I moved to Maui, and I was the only one who didn't. I got over that disappointment real quick.

Just take this in stride and realize that there is a lot more disappointment where that came from. Sometimes you just have to accept other peoples' decisions and not be affected by it. Which is basically my own spin on Gotti's post. Your "rich" school (I know they arent all rich, but its an "upper class" school, which basically expects a "rich" "perfect in the public eye" image) is so disappointed by what happened, when that is the kind of thing that happens all the time. It seems that YOU and the school, are more affected by the idea that others will now see your school as being imperfect. Thats why people are laughing this off. That and the fact that in a public school if you don't smoke weed, and dont want to have friends who do, you will be in a very small, outcasted social group. You are forced to accept other peoples' differences, which is a good thing about public schools. Its more like the real world.

I agree that they should have been more careful though. If they had plants in the dorms that was stupid, and if they didnt hide their stashes good enough that was stupid, because its one thing to be proven as a weed smoker, and its another to be busted red handed on school property. The idea behind that is that smoking weed is your own perrogative, but possession of plants and weed on campus is a sign of disrespect.

Im not sure what hurts you more. Is it the smack to the face that your friends smoke weed? Or that they would be so disrespectful to have it in excess in the dorms?

If they were all busted with like a gram, or a twenty sack or something, I say tough luck to the kids. But if it was a lot, I think they had it coming. I personally don't think high schoolers should smoke weed, but I know that there will never be a time when all people under 18 will realize they should wait until they graduate to start messing with weed. What happened at your school is not a big deal. Punish them, yes. But don't over react about it just because "the community" is shocked. The community needs to get over it, and so does Blair.

sigh, i guess. the most dissappointing part was seeing them all leave. it still leaves me to think, why. i guess all you can say is stupidity.

i know that it was their stupid decision to do weed, and therefore the consequence is expulsion, the disappointment of their friends and alot of anger against them. i said it in my first post:

yea i guess i got too worked over, but it's cuz they were all good people and friends and the point that angers me that they decided to take a decent sized step at ruining their high school lives. Like rick said, i know they had it coming, because they were doing it in the dorm, and then went about freely, stoned as hell and attracting attention to themselves.

I also never misunderstood all of your points. I do understand them.
