Re: Camaro will not start

It's not opti-spark either, it has coil packs, and I don't believe it's TBI either, but I'm not sure on that...

i pulled the gas line apart where it turns from metal to rubber towards the front of the car after the fuel filter and turned the key and i heard the pump kick on and fuel shot out of the lines so i dont think it is the pump or the filter and i tried the starting fluid and it didnt work but the other day when i tried to start it it actually started but ran for about 10 sec and stalled and it wouldnt start back up. it just keeps turning over and catches every once in a while and it sounds like it wants to start.

Re: Camaro will not start

So it fires every once in a while is that what you mean by "catches"? It could be a bad coil pack but I would think if only one is bad it would run but very badly. I dunno though. Did you check for spark on all the plugs?

Well if it runs for 10 sec, then it would have died if it was the coil becuase there are alot of revolutions in 10 sec and it prolly just would have died in the first 3 or 4 sec. Id check the injectors they are prolly gummed. Get some injector cleaner and some stabalizer and should be fine.

Re: Camaro will not start

Ok, well Check for spark on each wire if you can. I wouldn't think it would be the injectors and if they are gummed up so bad that the car won't even run cleaner and stabilizer won't help. If they are that bad you'll probably have to have them cleaned professionally. However if you have no spark on some wires it could very well be a coil pack, make sure you check the wires very well first though better to replace one of those if they are the problem before you spend a lot on a coil pack.

I was talking about after he got injectors cleaned to store with stabilizer. And about injector cleaners they use acids that break down particals fast so if it is getting a bit of fuel to run for 10 sec then it should be long enough to get it working.

No optispark. if it is like my 94 3.4. It will have 2 crank shaft position sensor. . 24x and 3x. It may be something to look into (they act like hall effects. I think you and I may be having a similar problem execpt my car will always fire.. then turns off. Check thread:

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=368447

Hopefully we can figure this one out! Let me know if you look at the injectos or not.. I am thinking of doing the same thing next. Unfortunately the fuel Pressure regulator is monted to the rail with a special screw. If you have not checked the regulator pull the vacum and see if gass is leaking from regulator etc... I am still tring to trouble shoot mine so let us know what you find.

Re: Camaro will not start

i took the coil pack and ignition control module in to be tested and they passed the test then the guy who tested them told me to try changing the spark plugs so i bought some and replaced them and it fired right up but it runs really bad could this be because of it sitting for a while

Re: Camaro will not start

after changing the plugs it started right up but it ran like crap then it burnt up the plugs so i replaced them again and now it wont start it just turns over and while turning over it seems like power is cut for a second and then it makes a clunking noise
