Re: Best Techno Songs

The Launch is horrible basketball half time trance. Like Scooter. Yuck.

BTW, Gotti - do you know how to use FTP? Might let you FTP into my server and grab some music.

Re: Best Techno Songs

Smart FTP is an easy enough program to use.

I like some techno/trance/laser music that isn't rap or hiphop. But they have to have a really really really good beat. I have heard many of them in the past but didnt care to much to write names down. I also will look into getting some songs.

Oz, whats your IP?

Re: Re: Best Techno Songs

Whew... I listened to as much of "Sentinel" as I could, but that wasn't very much. I've definitely heard much worse as far as the UK Hardhouse & Nu-NRG is concerned, but for the most part stuff that hard just isn't my cup of tea anymore. More power to you if that's what you dig though, is that what's big in the Aussie clubs?

Here's a link to a nice little house mix for the slightly less hyperactive among us.

I wish I had an acappella of the first track...

clicky...

Re: Best Techno Songs

Nah, can't stand that crap for too long. That is really techno, I like trancier stuff with break downs and synths and lyrics.

*edit* - Just listened to that track. Not even CLOSE to techno. Refer to Ishkur's guide posted earlier.

If you're going to get picky, it's actually 'Nu-NRG', but they're so similar, you can't really have one without the other. But as I said, not really my cup of tea.

That link you posted wasn't bad for house. I can only listen to house and enjoy it in bars. Everyone looks like they're in slow motion at clubs that play house. Just can't get up to it.

I've been through that site, but I still don't see much of a connection between the first link and techno. There may be a few recent variations of techno that have similarities, but the foundations of techno are in that simple Detroit sound, and that's what comes to mind when I think of the genre. I really think things like Nu-NRG can trace their lineage more closely along the lines of trance and house.

I think Richie Hawtin's music most closely embodies what true techno has become as time has gone by. Check out www.plastikman.com if you want...

And yeah, kinda laid back house music like that isn't really too good for a big club setting, but I think it's great just to listen to.

Re: Best Techno Songs

Kublah - you are thinking of techno as it was emerging in the 80s. I am talking about it's current form.

But there is so much of it being produced today that still maintains its original form, structure and spirit, just with modern twists. If you listen to music from the people mentioned in that article, Hawtin, Squarepusher, Autechre, they sound absolutely nothing like the stuff from the guy in the first link.
