Re: b16 vs b18

that point is mute because no one ever breaks input shafts, the casing will break before you break an input shaft

Ya, its kinda a funny assumption.

My version of the story includes the B16 walking past the B18 at 80mph due to its extra 20hp.

Assuming things is stupid. This whole thread is full of dumb-dumbs I think.

Re: b16 vs b18

Maybe. Maybe they suck at driving, maybe you have a better clutch, or less weight, or maybe you're just really good at driving. A 2.1 60' in a small Honda with stock tires is great, you have to know that.. I don't know hardly anyone who can hit 2.1s on street tires with as much power as you have, I just haven't seen it. Maybe if I could manage a 2.1 60 I'd be running the exact same time as you. We could speculate a million things. You have to admit that statistically they're very similar motors. The torque > HP argument is stupid, and I'm sure that you know why. There's just so many factors its ridculous to try and understand the reasoning behind it. You've beat B16 hatches, I've beat LS hatches. And so on and so on. They're very close.

Saying the B18 would jump 1.5 cars off the line because of 18 more lbs-ft. is stupid too, you have know that. In a hypotheical race that you hit a 2.2 60' and so did I (similar mods, but not the same) we'd be dead even pretty much just winning/losing by as much as a moulding or a JDM parking antenna.

So, I pointed out the stupidity and said if we're gonig to assume things it could go either way, especially when there's no foundation to the statment being made.

BUT this thread isn't even about this wich is why I didn't really get into it, you and I especially know that its a dead topic that will NEVER be concluded and we just agree to disagree.

But as far as this thread is concerned, the B16 tranny on an LS makes a world of a difference.

Re: b16 vs b18

It's all good, its just preference I geuss...I mean They dont give me much competition I get better races from gsr powered cars I geuss I just have a freak motor.

I just like the feeling of instant power and not having to wait for vtec to kick in to go anywhere. All in preference. Buy what you like/want fellas.

Wow, I feel the same way. Whenever I race B16 rexes/hatches...they always seem to come up short on me....i have alot more fun racing GSR equipped crxs against my b20/y1 crx...it usually comes down to other factors besides the motor/tranny like driver, tires, weight, etc.

About what i posted earlier...it's all opinion. Anything stated on this board is opinion. You have the right to disagree...that's life. But, just as Siz stated, this topic will never end.
It seems that everyone with a B16 has beat B18 powered cars and everyone with a B18 has beat B16 powered cars....The debate will never end.
It's just a personal preference....higher displacement and more torque or higher revving and higher peak horsepower. I could keep going about why displacement and torque are important but I'm not going keep fueling this fire.

Re: b16 vs b18

BamBam you only have a B20? Those motors are only good if you have VTEC. I ran circles around one in a 92 HB. I mob with a JDM B16A1 with a VTEC controller, Mugen Chip, Intake and exhaust only. And B18 are just a cheap way of going about a B16. Only Frankenstein motors are worth the money or a B16B/or a B18C5. Not to talk crap but I'm just throwing that out there.

Re: b16 vs b18

What are you saying? What other motor is worth having in a Daily driven Honda? Besides a K20 or the Frankensteins? I have seen what people can do with these motors. My boy has his CRX SI with a 70 shot of NOS and I still beat him with two other people in my car. Shoot I was taught to drive at Sears Point RaceWay so I know I'm a good driver.

Oh so your hott shit now...yea no one cares buddy.

Sound like a big headded noob to me, why exactly do you have a "mugen" chipped ecu but then you have a vtec controller? Do you like to waste money?

Have any 1/4 mile times there buddy?

Re: b16 vs b18

Sounds to me like you guys are just soar. As for the whole "Why do I have a Mugen ECU with a Vtec controller" question. If you didn't know you can change your fuel curve as well as activate your VTEC sooner and by having this setup it gives you more power and makes your car run cleaner. But I'm sure you guys knew that (DUMBASS)!
