The auto is actually a pretty decent shifter. Quick, and under load, aggressive.

Re: 02 GT mustang VS LS1 SS camaro

oh man you want some good autoshifts? I just turned my 4 speed slushbox into a 4 speed manualish. I installed my B&M ShiftPlus today, man its is NICE! the shifts are like twice as fast and the car gives a nice little jerk when it gets into gear. Before when it shifed at Redline 6500 RPMS it would drop down to about 4500 RPMS by the time it got into gear. Now it only drops to 5,000 RPMS and does it instantly. I love it, the best 40 bucks i ever spent on my car. Its also got a toggle switch inside the car so i can turn it to two settings of firmness, and off, which puts it back to stock shifts. If you have an automatic, this is a very simple mod that works great little money.

Sounds like a great run...a loss isn't always a bad thing (unless it's against a moron). Nice to hear respect between Ford and GM anyway. Fun times.

Re: 02 GT mustang VS LS1 SS camaro

I respect any car thats fast. Or even quick..or even if someone is trying their hardest to be fast. I can respect that. I was just fortunate enough to start out with a pretty decent car. An LS1 car was actually my first choice...but I couldn't get a low mileage good condition one for my price range. My mustang had 20,0000 miles on it when I bought it in like..october. And now it has 25,000ish. All the LS1s I could afford had like 80,000 miles on them.

Re: 02 GT mustang VS LS1 SS camaro

Yeah, the LS1 cars with low mileage are more expensive.
Not sure of the aftermarket parts prices for the GT, but I know they are high for the LS1.
Nothing wrong with the GT's. Personally, I prefer the Trans Am looks to the Mustang, and that is the reason I got the T/A over a GT. I had a couple give me a couple good runs when I was closer to stock. I have never actually lost to a Mustang yet though. I am sure it will happen, and soon enough. Race season is coming up!!!

Oh, it can happen. Of course, the WS6 can be made faster, and then the Mustang could be made faster and...it goes on and on. I found a good video of a lightly modded 04 Cobra vs. a bunch of cars. The closest race was an SS with Lingenfelter heads, etc. making 525hp to the crank. The cobra got him by half a car; CLOSE race. All in all, both cars have lots of aftermarket, and both can be made fast. Both are certainly respectable.

It is something you can't stop once you start. I told myself I wouldn't do much to mine, and now I have a stroker motor coming next month.....

The truth has been spoken. Just depends on who has more into the car.
That and I really don't get into many races. Most cars I run into don't try me.
Closest race I have ever had was a new Mach 1 with a 100 shot. I thought he was going to kill me, but towards the top of 4th gear, I was pulling ever so slowly. Dead even until about 110.
Since this was before cam, I figured he couldn't drive.

the ls1 is a 346 ci
rated at over 315 hp depending what year and option
your mustang is rated alot lower than that
so yes you did very very good
97 SS's came with 305 HP
98-00 SS's came with 320
99-02 SS's came with 325
SLP also made a few SLP SE SS's that had 345HP, its identifiable by its center exiting exhaust and rear bumper skirt, and it also has an SLP Lid, otherwise considered aftermarket on non SE Cars.

Speaking of LS1 Camaro SS's... I had a llittle accidnt with mine...with one wrecked door.. issed:
