Well, with short trip driving like that, the engine really doesn't get a change to completely warm up.
I would do an economy measurement next time you go on a long road trip instead of the short trips. 12-13mpg is actually pretty normal with the short trips taken into account

when i get to work and engines completly warmed up and oil pressure is at the norm for highway driving and then idel. also i found some recalls for my truck but i called GM and they said there are none. is this true? the vin# is 1gkct18wxsk539322

but the engine temp is up and oil is hot. what more would tell you its not fully warmed up? also any info on the recalls?

It is still running in open loop for probably most of those miles and is just going into closed loop when you park it.
